The Apple Wireless Aluminum Keyboard is great. So is the Mighty Mouse. I would suggest either that or an MX Revolution. MM since it's cheaper but pretty good, and the MX is more expensive with more programmable buttons.

Thank you so much for the reply, I will be looking in to Apple wireless keyboard ;) I think I am thinking either VX nano or mighty mouse....

The Apple wireless keyboard is really great. The design is awesome and it is very small so it's not hard to put it somewhere on the table (I had this older Logitech keyboard which was HUUUUUGE compared to this..) Also, the keyboard is exactly the same like on your MacBook, so you won't be switching between two layouts (trust me, that will get annoying after time). Since the mouse is for your MacBook, I would suggest the one I said above, since that one is only bluetooth, and all the other ones talked about here (VX Nano, all the Revolutions) have a dongle (even though the VX Nano one is really small). IMO, the dongle makes the whole work place look kinda unclean.

One reason I recommend the MM over the MX. MacBook/Pros have only 2 USB ports. Using up one of them for a bulky mouse makes no sense.

Whippersnappers

Everyone knows that the only two usable keyboards are the IBM "Model M" (available new as Customizer/EnduraPro at pckeyboard.com), and the Apple Extended Keyboard I. Honorable mention to Matias Tactile Pro (1), and the Northgate keyboards.

Who said keyboards should be quiet?

You fail to mention the Das Keyboard (uses Cherry keyswitches, optional über cool blank keys for touch-typing training and elitists), the current iteration of the Model M, and even this little gem from ABS.

Though, they all take up space, are kind of expensive, and don't look particularly good sitting next to anything (recent) by Apple. But I'd definitely use one of them for my future (PC) gaming rig. They last forever. And ever. And ever... (and the Model M can function as a handy bludgeoning weapon for self defense, all 15 lbs of it—it ways more than your notebook!)

I like my Mighty Mouse (wired, came with the Mac), and I've used lesser wireless optical mice (albeit they were getting on 4 or 5 years old 2 or 3 years ago). The wireless actually has laser tracking (wired doesn't), and I find the scroll ball quite handy (some folks complain about its response getting a bit dodgy when it gets dirty...why not wash your hands once in a while?); though the fact that it doesn't center your middle finger on the very temperamental sweet spot of the right mouse button can be quite annoying some times. But are you really gonna need both USB ports to be open all the time? Cause the micro Bluetooth dongle of the VX Revolution ain't so bad. i mostly just find myself using the trackpad, however.

Well, I don't see a reason to use the USE or in need at all. I bought VX nano cause of its price and the portability but I do kinda understand what MM offers over the mice with dongles...

Maybe I should of went and picked up the MM?
This is so frustrating... I know I am getting the Apple wireless keyboard for sure... but for the mouse is not sure at all. I am a recent switcher to Mac and I am doubting myself if I will be able to adjust to MM?
Thanks all for the replies

Are you looking for something that matches your mac, or some thing that is just good?

For keyboard I would go with the G15 (original version) or the one of the Razor kayboards. They are nice and offer good feedback. For a mouse, I would go with any thing logitech. The might mouse does not offer much for its price tag.
If this is for home use only, then look into some thing wired or some thing with a charging dock. This way you dont have to deal with batteries.
If you want a mouse on the go look for some thing bluetooth so you dont have to deal with any extra accessories.

I have the VX Nano for my MBP and like it. We mainly use it at home but I went with it because it is small so easier to take with us when we go somewhere. I have pretty big hands but don't have a problem using it and my wife hasn't complained either. I usually just use the trackpad unless I am using Photoshop Elements. I like that the receiver for it is so small.

On our iMac, we went with the S530 combo. It works well for us but I don't see it on the Logitech USA site. Here is a link to it on the HK site.

Thanks all for replying once again ;)
Is there, (or shouldn't there), be desktop multitouch?
Say what?

Well, I am living at home for now but I will be heading off to University this September and honestly I didn't want to use the track that much :p(I love it but I don't want to break it xD) When I do carry my laptop around, I will most likely to use the trackpad. So I guess I didn't know what I was shopping for...

I know!! I bought the VX Nano cause of its size and the receiver but ya... Now I am realizing that I didn't really need to portability of the mouse since I will be too lazy to carry the mouse around when I am on the go.

What should I exchange My VX Nano to then...?

Thanks all -Chris-
p.s. I always wanted the wireless since it feels lot free but ya... Please recommend me more ;)

wired keyboard over wireless

I do not know about your typing skills, however, when you are a fast typer like myself, you tend to see a delay in the revelation of the characters representing the keys you type on the screen with wireless anything. This is going to happen no matter the case.

That being the case, I opted for the skinny, full (with numeric keys) keyboard wired for use at home since at home, I don't need wireless and the mouse will plug into the keyboard, therefore to not use one of the precious USB ports.

I also have a USB expander that I plug into one of the onboard USB ports and turns that one into 4 without an additional power supply.

Yeah, I am sure the Apple wireless is nice and I was about to buy one, then I thought, if I don't have to be wireless for something that I need really good response time on (like typing), I should be wired.

Just some thoughts to consider.

P.S. I have seem some really good suggestions for mice on here you should consider (i.e. MX 1000 Revolution from Logitech)

I bought a refurbished MX Revolution on Amazon for $30 and could not be happier.

Hi, I was looking at the MX Revolution on Amazon and noticed two versions, one for 75 dollars and another that said 'with Mac software' which was 10 dollars more. Is it worth paying the extra $10 for the 'mac' version? (I thought they just worked with PC and Mac?)

No, just download the drivers on the site.

Or don't.

Man I really feel stupid for buyin VX nano now lol no one uses it?
I really do reconsider on wired keyboard as well I guess... But I don't know what or where I will be using in University... Any college students here?? So lets say you own a Macbook what set up would you rather have?
1.Wireless Keyboard and ultra portable mouse(VX nano)
2.Just use trackapad/keyboard on macbook when not at home(res/dorm etc)
3. Get wired for both mouse and keyboard for home use only.
Thanks for your help guys ;)

Go with the MX Revolution, as others have said before, it's the best mouse out there that money can buy. Period. It feels awesome, has enough buttons to do practically anything (LMB, RMB, MMB, scroll, forward, back, Expose, Spaces, Spotlight and show desktop), all whilst having your hand on your mouse. Especially Expose at the thumb wheel is awesome, you can just switch windows superfast (I can't think of any faster way).
So just go with the MX Revolution, it's the best.
As for the keyboard, I don't really know, all the current ones look pretty ugly IMHO. The Apple Aluminium ones are cool, they probably match your Mac's style, but I'm not sure about the rest. There one from Logitech, the Di Novo whatchamaycallit, the one with the orange lights. That one's pretty cool, but it's way too expensive (does have a trackpad on it though =p).

Over $100??? No way. It's only $50 on Amazon.

I think I might have to return the VX nano from bestbuy in Canada and order MX revolution from Amazon.com?? MX revolution looks like a decent gadget but I don't know if i will be needing all those buttons??

VX Revolution then. That link is for the VX Revolution.

MX Revolution =/= VX Revolution. Do the research yourself and pick which one suits you.

Just don't get the VX Nano, way too small!

I did research all those mice... The reason I picked up the VX nano from the Best Buy was the Size of the receiver... But again... there are mice works with bluetooth... I don't know what I am going to do... Money is the issue yes but also the portability I guess... Since I haven't used mouse with Laptops yet I don't know how much I will appreciate the VX Nano on the go to like the library or coffee shop or even to a meeting like that...

Thanks for replying

K then... Lets say that I have small hands compared to average men hands.
Also, I will be heading off to University Res.
I have Alum Macbook with 2 usb ports.

If that was your case would you still choose the Revolution series over VX nano?

MX5500. Its the logitech mx revolution, but bluetooth. Keyboard is bluetooth.

I have it and it is perfect. Great feel, great connection. Won't have to use a USB port and the mouse is rechargeable. Can easily bring it with you when you want to.

Works in OS X for most features.

Get it.

Well you say you want something that can be used at home. Both of these are superior products from my own experience. People have recommended the MX revolution here, its the same one, but bluetooth. No need for a USB receiver for the wireless connection.

I would first decide if you want it to be wired or wireless, then go from there. For me in school, I would want something I can grab and go, not having to unplug items.
