I too have been looking and here are a few I have found that I have my eye on:

Everki Studio Slim
Everki Versa Premium
Everki Glide
Booq Cobra Squeeze
Booq Pack Pro

So far those are the ones that I have been really eyeing. I am looking more towards the work style of backpacks. I dislike having to carry a briefcase or laptop bag.

I looked at the Tumi, but man they are expensive, nice, actually super nice, but expensive.

I have not, I don't even think I have heard of them, off to search them out!

Update:

I like this one!

Bullet Ruck
They’re extremely durable, American made, and some models look sharp/professional. Some models are a bit too utilitarian to be office/professional for my taste, but others—like the Bullet—I think would blend in enough.

A big consideration for the a backpack is whether or not you need to carry papers, stuff, or both. Most backpacks tend not to handle papers well. My favourite backpack I've owned is a Tumi-T Pass Business backpack. Expensive, but tough as Texas blue steel. Holds way more stuff than you can imagine. It doesn't handle paper well. Is it hip or stylish? Don't know. I have switched to a more modern backpack: Lat-56. I do wonder if I've made a good decision to switch because the Tumi is that good.

I would comment if you travel, make sure your backpack has a "band" to secure to your suitcase handle. Make sure the band is wide enough for your suitcase, too.

Two other key features to look for: A key loop inside your briefcase and a place to store things like medicine.

That’s why I like Tom Bihn bags. Lots of loops and rings for accessories, small bags, pockets, carabiners, etc.

When Was in College (back in 90s) the coolest backpack (to carry actual heavy books) was a canister backpack, totally backwards in rain unless sprayed for wetness!

Canister backpack?

Believe he/she is referring to something similar to the following. These have been used as book bags for ever. Each generation discovers these as alt/cool bags vs what everyone else has.

Old thread, yes, but assuming some folks still stop by here for recommendations, I’ll add my two pennies.

Looked and looked, and wound up ordering three backpacks online, figuring I’d send two back, which I did.
The winner, for me, was the Kenneth Cole Reaction Back Stage Access.

It’s black leather, has a pocket suitable for papers and file folders, key ring, luggage sleeve, wears nicely, and is capable of holding way more than I care to carry. Pretty high list price ($400) but available on Amazon for just over $100.

I’d used a briefcase (Mountainsmith) for quite awhile, and decided to go with a backpack for ergonomic reasons, but wanted something that could fit in more and less formal settings. The KC fit the bill perfectly for me.
