I understand you need more protection with kids, what about this:

https://www.speckproducts.com/iguy-ipad-cover-blue.html

The toddlers would love that one but the older ones wouldn't be caught dead with it. If I insisted they'd probably put up with it but I'd rather get one they'd like. They've treated my original iPad very well. They have the added incentive of knowing that whenever Nanny gets a new one the old model will be passed down to one of them. The 1G has already been allocated.
They'd love it if Apple brought out a new model every 6 months.

How about the Maroo cases, some pretty funky designs and although they're not as all covering as an Otterbox type case, they have protection where it counts. This is the case I went for, hope that helps.

Speck Pixelskin HD should be out in the next week for the new iPad. Will have more colors, lighter weight, smart cover function. Should offer decent protection without the bulk of the "military grade" ones.

I've also heard good things about the Ekto 2 (works with 3) but it looks pretty bulky (though not supposed to be heavy)..

And here it is getting the **** beat out it....

:D

That Ekto case really seems to be what I'm looking for.
Only problem would be trying to get my hands on one. I'm in Ireland and the only outlets given on the Uzibull website are Amazon.com(Mediastore) and Mediastore directly and at first glance it doesn't look like they ship internationally.
Didn't come up with any hits in the UK or on eBay. I'll try searching some more in the morning.
Thanks for coming up with that suggestion. Much appreciated.

Added-After trying the Mediastore site again, I found I could put the Flex Kit in basket and get shipping rate but clicking on the buy link for the case didn't do anything.
Really must leave it until the morning.
Tried once more and realised you had to click on square to change colour to black to put it in basket. Will sleep on it tonight and might order it in morning.
The reviews on Amazon seemed good but iLounge marked it down for a few things.

Well, I emailed Mediastore. On starting the order process you can select destination country and receive shipping quote which is shown as a flat rate of $3.99 for Ireland so presumably it wouldn't be too speedy so I inquired about the possibility of an expedited service.
Hopefully I'll hear back from them.
I was tempted to just order and use PayPal and see what happened but sense prevailed.
The Flex Kit which includes the silicon case comes to $49.95 which seems reasonable enough.
I wish I lived somewhere you could to a shop and see a selection of cases for yourself. It would make it a lot easier to decide.

Ordered the Flex Kit case. They replied to my email and we sorted out the shipping so i'ill have to patiently wait for it to arrive.
At least I can stop driving myself crazy looking Out for reviews and haunting this sub-forum.
Thanks again Batotman!
Well, that's two cases sorted out that I wouldn't have found but for MacRumors members assistance.

..protects against drops, looks cool, quality and customer service seal the deal.

+1 for the Maroo cases (leather). I have the Moko case and LOVE it. It offers really good drop protection for the edges. Not Otterbox level, but really good. Plus it's a very nice looking folio case.

----------

Went ahead and ordered The Cyber Acoustics IC-1003BK. Is the same company as Maroo just doesn't have the branding on the case and is $5.00 cheaper. The reason I like this one is because it maintains the function I have with my roocase but protects the corners of the device. Will come back with a review once I receive the case.

Whoops! Didn't even get to your post before I responded, but yes thats the Maroo Moko without the branding. You will very happy with it. I had decided to stick a Best Skin Ever on mine and use it with a smart cover when at home and then put it in the Moko when I travel but I now have it in the Moko here in the house too. I like the case that much.

Wow thanks for the link. I really wanted the maroo case but im not a fan of brandings. The CA version is awesome. Prob gonna get it in red tho.

Does the Moko case play well with a screen cover? I ordered a Powersupport cover for my iPad, but haven't received it yet and don't know exactly how it sits on the screen, and if it overlaps with the placement of the corners on the Maroo case.

I'm not sure how it does with the screen protector as I put a BSE on the back of mine, and I can confirm that the iPad does fit in the Moko case fine with a skin on the back, but I can't comment on the screen protector.

The way the SG bumpers in the Moko case are, you'd have to be real careful because the tab part that goes over the corner could cause the corners to peel up if you're not careful, but I don't see why the iPad couldn't fit with a screen protector on.

I went to Staples to check out their iPad case offerings, and they had the Cyber Acoustics IC-1002BK, for about $30. It looks like what you are describing despite the difference in model numbers, hope it is.

I'm still not sure if it will interfere with the screen cover from Powersupport I have on order. Perhaps I can cut it at the corners before installing.
