I get what you're saying but it is a factual headline. It is the lowest price thus far and is a brand new product.
That’s exactly why it is so yucky. Sort of getting off on a technicality with the word “record” for such an insignificant discount. But yes, factually correct. Ugh.

The Pro is $100 off with edu discount that isn't verified, so anyone can do it. You definitely get $100 by buying a Pro, it's always been this way for back to school.
Yeah I know that. I am referring to the Back to school gift card special that the person I replied to mentioned. Check again.

I was disappointed and returned it
lol. That's fair. It's not for everyone and we all have our own priorities.

I personally love the thinness, that it's lighter, more powerful, and that AMAZING OLED display. But as everyone has said, iPadOS is a disservice to it.

I have the M1 11" iPad Pro and I just didn't feel it was a worthwhile upgrade. Maybe for a new Pro customer though it is.

I agree with you. I’m curious to see what WWDC will bring for M4 vs older machines. I’d hate to see M1 and M2 get taken out of any new, cool stuff.
The new AI features in Logic Pro might be indicative here. This is what Apple's website has to say about the features (emphasis mine):

  1. M-series Apple silicon is recommended when using Session Players on iPad.
  2. M-series Apple silicon is required when using Stem Splitter on iPad and Mac.
  3. M-series Apple silicon is recommended when using ChromaGlow on iPad. M-series Apple silicon is required when using ChromaGlow on Mac.
So anything M1 or higher will do just fine, and ChromaGlow and Session Players even work on A-series iPads (and possibly Intel Macs). I would presume they'll follow a similar pattern with iOS/iPadOS/macOS AI features.

Agree. In this economy, there isn’t enough of a difference to spend $899 (apple Education store) plus the new keyboard when you have one in place already. I use my iPad everyday in place of a laptop. I have a desktop that I use for work 10% of the time and I have a Mac mini M2 Pro/Studio display to do fun stuff at home. I’ll keep my M1 iPad Pro 11 for another year or 2.
I replaced my 2018 pro with an m4 pro but like my old device I plan to keep it for at least 6 years. I’d imagine it’s not worth upgrading for anyone on an m1 or m2. I don’t understand why some people get disappointed by not needing to buy a shiner new toy. I got rid of my old iPad because I’m sure it’s nearing the end off getting full featured updates and the battery life was getting bad.

are you new to apple?
You got me. I'm totally new and haven't been an Apple customer for about 20 years with like $50,000 spent

It is definitely weird that a new product wouldn't be part of the BTS special when the BTS sale comes close to the launch which this would

Apple has never excluded new products from that sale.

I am also coming from a M1 iPad Pro. I was pushing and hitting the limitations with the drawing and light CAD apps i am using and hoping it would tackle that workflow better. I Haven't stress-tested it yet, but I do appreciate all the obvious quality-of-life improvements for a handheld device. Any little bit helps and that OLED screen alone for me as someone who stares at the screen for extended periods of time.

But like I said, we all have our own priorities, and for me, coming from an M1 iPad Pro I really appreciate all the changes. I still love my M1 and will keep using them both.

Have a 12.9" iPP 2020 w/A12z chip. Seems to work fine except for light blue lines on two of the edges. Thus, won't get anything on trade-in. Would like to get something new but not sure if I would get any additional use out of it. (Yes, use it daily for light work). I really like the Pro with Face ID. May just wait and get something new during the BTS sale.

Typing from my 1TB 12.9” M1 iPad with 16GB RAM. I did not even feel interested in the new one. They really need to overhaul the iPadOS and make me feel my M1 does not work for a fancy iPadOS to make me buy one. It is a lot of friction as I will also have to re-buy my magic keyboard
It was an instant buy for me for OLED and the landscape camera. I upgraded from a cellular 1TB M1 12.9 to a 13” cellular 1TB and gave my Granddaughter the M1 to use when staying over or as a backup device

How sad that you clearly got so easily offended by a such a facetious comment that you even felt the need to share your device list. It's an impressive list for sure but no need to hide your name so I fixed it for you:

BTW you're still wrong about the BTS sale exclusions. In the past it's only excludes refurbished products, open boxes, and some other high end pro products I believe. So even though you've spent $50,000 in 20 years you still haven't been paying attention.

Too expensive for a glorified content consumption device. I would wait for further discounts to 1 tb model.

Who was really asking for a more expensive iPad that does the same thing?
I’m good with my M1 iPad Pro.
I might of been interested if it was as 799

Like many, I'm on the fence waiting to see what Apple announces at WWDC. If iPadOS 18 is mainly about enhancements to AI (with little improvement in productivity and usability), I'll likewise be staying put with my M1 iPad Pro.

My maxed out 11” iPad Pro will arrive between 5/23/24 & 5/28/24. Very excited… 😉

Good to have discounts on the brand new M4 iPad Pro. The 10th gen iPad is now even better with the reduced prices.
