@ChristianSelig thanks! Hey, as long I I've got your ear (eh, yeah, I should probably put this in /r/apolloapp), perhaps the only thing I miss from the old web version of Reddit is the "parent" button/link below each comment - I know you have "view all replies" to focus on a particular message, but sometimes I'm deep down in a conversation and really just want to see what someone is replying to, without having to scroll up and carefully track the indent level - you have a great list of actions available when long-pressing on a comment - I'd love to see "parent" added to that list - would make navigation in large threads easier.

Yes, but what if I forget the code word, ages after I first entered it?

It would be awesome to have Apollo put a separate section at the bottom of the icon selection screen, showing the secret icons one has previously unlocked, to make them clearly visible (though I confess that I haven't looked recently to see if it now does something like that).
Aha! @ChristianSelig - Following up on myself, I changed away from ATP, and then changed back (in the usual secret manner), and now there is, indeed, a secret section at the end of the list.

You added that really fast - I mean, I just asked like 5 minutes ago! ??

Yo, Apollo dev here. Nope, not quite. I've quite literally never made a penny off any user tracking or selling or any of that. Apollo makes money through an old school business model where people exchange currency for things they want. ?

Apollo does have crash reporting and some analytics, but even that you can completely turn off in Settings. That stuff's just so as a dev I can know if a new feature is actually getting used and I should continue spending time on it, for instance.

Thanks so much for covering Apollo, Juli. I think I've said it before but going from running home from school to catch the MacRumors live blog for WWDC to actually being mentioned on the site never stops blowing my mind.

Awesome your the Apollo dev! Thank you so much for making the app Apollo! Greatly appreciated. I rarely use Reddit but when I do it makes it a joy!

Thanks for not tracking too.

But push notifications require servers to operate. And for subscription haters, Apollo does offer a lifetime unlock IAP at $49.99 (equivalent to 5 yearly subscriptions). And for those who doesn't need push notifications, $4.99 IAP.

@ChristianSelig I’m still considering if I need Apollo Ultra. Aside from push notifications and customization with different colors (and supporting the dev economically even more), am I missing something else?

I ask because I don’t need those features, but I’m not sure if in the future more features will require Ultra (I’m just Pro). Or even the upcoming iPad app update, I hope it won’t need Apollo Ultra. Actually, one of the reasons I didn’t buy Ultra while It was still 25 or 32€, was because I wasn’t sure if this purchase wold be kept for both versions,if Apollo Ultra will be shared among all the versions, the iPhone app and the upcoming iPad app and macOS app. But now that’s 50€, I think I’ll stay just Pro.

By the way, great app, it is awesome the dev’s dedication, even devotion to this project. I wish the dark theme has finally received some translucency (I haven’t checked it yet)

Apollo Pro/Ultra page explains this pretty well.

IMO, custom app icons and themes are fun but not essential. I have the Ultra lifetime and I personally prefer the default theme.

Just bought Apollo Ultra and deleted the stock Reddit app because of this post!

Just curious, are you afraid of Reddit suddenly shutting down the API and rendering your app completely useless?

I never want to build a product on top of an API of another platform and my product competes with the API's product.

the favourites subreddits don't sync on apllo still :(
despite that, amazing dev!
What I mean by this if you are a longtime reddit user with hell of a lot of of subs, custom feeds etc, if you want to jump ship to apollo, when you sign in, nothing is sync'd so it makes it hard transition to apollo even if you want to.

Worst thing in the official Reddit app is when I have the reflex to long-press a comment to copy it, and then it just hides it, scrolls somewhere else, and then I completely lose the context of where I was.

It kind of also does this in Apollo, but I don't really lose the context. Anyway... is it possible to disable this behavior ?

Edit : Found it. Settings ➜ General ➜ Tap to collapse
Damn son you just saved me TONS of nerves that i lost due to the stupid tap to collapse thingy while browsing thru longer posts

Apollo is the only reason I still use Reddit. The other apps are garbage. I love the time and care you put into it. :)
