So in other words Apple will finally release a proper AirPods Max case. The current APM case is an embarrassment.

I'm surprised this patent does not reference the prior art of the European "Carry-All" from Seinfeld 😆

That case, combined with no on/off switch, was a deal breaker for me.
The case is a joke. Can't believe that someone with credentials, who went thru the interview process could design this, and then people who are even higher paid, approved this. Unbelievable.

I love the current case for AirPods Max, it’s lightweight, fast & easy to use, does a great job at home and traveling. People also ridiculed the Apple iPhone battery cases back in the day so now we have a crap mag charger block in white.

AirPods Max with 1. USB-C, and 2. a proper travel case would be an instant buy for me!

Hopefully they bring them out soon, though. My Sony XM4s are starting to fail so I'm in the market right now for a replacement.
And lossless when wired.

I think if the price came down to $350, they made them in red (with black muffs), and USB-C I would definitely consider buying them.

I actually like the current version. It allows them to stand up straight on a level surface.

So, basically, it's the Sony WH-1000XM5's case, but instead of a traditional zipper, Apple is gonna use magnets. Great!

Nope, there's more. It will also not come standard with the headphones, but will be a separate accessory that will sell for the low price of $199. Compared to the $20 microfiber cleaning cloth, that's a bargain!

Truth be told, I love the case. Unlike my other headphone cases, it's super thin and light so it doesn't take up any extra room. I can slip it on in a couple of seconds and throw it in my backpack.

These are great headphones. Apple just overpriced it by a $100 IMO. If they really wanted them to fly off the shelves, they should've priced them at $399.

The main issue I have with the Max (which I do own and love) is not just that the case isn’t very good at doing case-y things, it’s that it’s missing a critical element of the AirPods magical sauce - the ability to top off the battery on the headphones within it. I know weight has been one of the biggest criticisms of the product, but a case that had a small built in battery that was positioned towards the headband area would give it an overall nicer weight balance when in the case, making it feel consistently weighted throughout instead of extremely heavy at one side.

This, to me, was the missing feature/oversight. I can live without the other rumored features that didn’t make it in, although I’ve always found it strange that the ear cups twist the wrong way when you put the headphones down around your neck, exposing the ear cups outwards instead of the metal enclosure. That seems like an oopsie to me.

Oh, and include the fricking 3.5mm cable. Ridiculous price gouging.
Now that’s a good point. It isn’t as needed as AirPods because the Max last so much longer, but that would be nice.

I like the case, but that would be an improvement. I throw it in my backpack and it allows me to easily tote them and get them out. I think most of the hate is a fear that the Max are more fragile than they are, and I get that.

that is the high end price tag - before the XM5's were revealed to be $399, $349 was already expensive but I will agree it's easier to swallow at $399. I like mine but the weight is a big deal for me and the condensation issue when doing slight workouts; my XM4's aren't that comfortable (due to heat in the muffs) but they don't condensate like the max. But this is more of a problem in the winter time for me. Summer time no issue of condensation just the weight issue is the main problem I have. Battery life for the XM4 > the MAX for sure but the biggest gripe I got is the stupid sleep/deep sleep with these max's. The XM4 has on/off but these guys man I've had my battery drain issues too.

Biggest deal for me using the MAX is the superior head tracking and sound during movies. My oh my I don't need my sub and satellites anymore using a projector, ATV, and the MAX it's such a great matchup for home theater. It's not 100% like you would get in a 7.1 but man it's phenomenal. There is no match on the market for this sort of use right now!

the new case can fit my ping pong paddles and maybe even my bowling ball.

I can do without that.

It’s kind of annoying on my Sony XM4’s to switch them on and off. Occasionally I’ll forget to switch them off and the battery will be part drained from leaving them on all day.
Same, this is part of why I hated my Bose. I get why some people prefer it. But switching from other Airpods to something else I'd just end up with 0 battery.

Current case sucks though and people defending it is a trip lol... I want to be able to throw things in my bag without worrying about crushing them, kind of largely the point of a case imo. Charging would also be nice but I usually use over the ears at a desk w/ charging personally. There are some on amazon I like yes but for $500 a case that works would be nice

It doesn't matter what Apple does here, people are going to complain about it.

"I hate the current design of the case, its awful."

"This new design is just a copy of other manufacturers designs (even though its what I said I wanted in a case). Where is the innovation!!"

Its a freaking headphones case. The case now is really not bad. It takes up very little space and protects the important parts of the headphones. I swear people just want a reason to complain about things.
