The Magic Mouse would be great if you could charge it using your iMacs USB port like if the mouse had an internal battery and lightning dock.

As it stands its useless as it eats about 50% of its battery power in a days heavy use.

I hope not. The point of a wireless mouse is to be wireless. 50% in a day's heavy use? Get an Apple battery charger. Apple's rechargeable AAs are great and last me about a couple of weeks under heavy use.

My guess is Apple will introduce slightly redesigned versions with BT4.0 support and smaller battery compartments. It wouldn't surprise me if the eject key is relabeled and a dedicated voice/Siri key is added.

I assumed we would see a redesign of the Keyboard...but your point makes it certain. They will have to remove the Eject key if they drop the Disc Drive. Interesting. Could be a Siri Key or Power Button...

When I bought my 2011 Macbook Air, I instantly fell in love with the keyboard. It is absolutely a joy to type on. The fact that it is backlit makes it just about perfect.

I have been asking/hoping for Apple to make a similar external keyboard: Similar to the wired aluminum full size, but with backlighting. They never have. So, I bought this to pair with my iMac:

Moshi Luna Keyboard

It's enroute and I'll have it within a week. I'll post a review.

I would like a wireless NON TOUCH mouse option. I would also like a keyboard with a num pad. It would also be nice to have that fancy solar recharger built in similar to Logitechs keyboard.

EDIT: Or even better: A USB 3 keyboard with 2-4 ports on it

I would love to see a full size keyboard with built in trackpad. Also the ability to plug in and charge whilst still using both the keyboard and mouse would bring them inline with other wireless options.

I love the Magic Mouse as well. What I'd really like to see is a wireless keyboard that has numeric pad and a dedicated delete key.

Let me add my vote for a wireless keyboard with numeric keypad!

I had to replace my wireless with the wired keyboard because I just couldn't work with Excel and Numbers without the numeric keypad.

What would be fantastic would be a separate wireless numeric keypad. You could add that to the regular wireless keyboard and Magic trackpad. Plus, you could use it with a MBP whenever you needed to enter lots of numbers.

I edit movie trailers and I quite like the double team of the Magic Mouse and wired keyboard. With rechargeable batteries I swap one pair for the other every two weeks (and that's with heavy use), so it's not that big of a deal.

I guess I'm one of the few who feels the magic mouse was a significant improvement over the mighty mouse. The mighty mouse had a decent shape to it, but the side buttons were far too insensitive to work properly-- if you can even call them buttons. The scroll ball.. oh dear, well let's just say it was decent at best if it worked, of which it seldom did. It got gunked up too fast even after a good cleaning. The left/right click accuracy is far better on the magic mouse. The scrolling experience has been the best I've ever had with the magic mouse. Its shape I've gotten used to over the years, but I could see why many people wouldn't like its low profile, or its lack of extra buttons.

Whoever said they go through 50% of its battery in one day, I call BS. I'm at my computer a whoole lot during the average day, and I average a new battery set for it maybe once a month.

Here you go ...

But, it would be nice to have it all-in-one (although there are several solutions to "attaching" the wireless keyboard to the Magic Trackpad or keypad)

I have had good luck with the Mobee rechargeable battery/charger for the Magic Mouse. It uses "inductive" charging by simply placing the mouse on a USB powered charger pad occasionally.

I wonder what happened to the Apple patent disclosure posted here some time back that had an inductive charger built in to the chin on the iMac which would recharge the batteries wirelessly in the keyboard, mouse, and trackpad? That would be nice!

Real Keyboards

It would be a big help if Apple would include a full keyboard instead of the standard little wireless toy. Most desktop users need numbers and functions. Microsoft makes a really nice ergonomic, full sized, comfortable one you can get from Amazon for $50 in case Apple still hasn't got the hundreds of messages on these and other forums. Whoever at Apple has the obsession with "little" needs to be removed from the iMac team.

I question the assertion that most desktop users need them. However if you order a Mac off of Apple's website it is possible to get it with the wired extended keyboard.

I agree - I feel their magic mouse sucks. It just feel weird and unwieldy to use. I am using their trackpad, but for gaming purposes, there is still no substitute for a cheap plastic mouse.

Not cheap, but this is what there is no substitute for when it comes to gaming.

"Most users"? Doubtful.

I'd like the option for a wire KB with NUM pad, yes I know there are 3rd party options.

I agree it's only a matter of time before the eject key is replaced, maybe they will make it F13 with the option to have it eject if you still have a DVD burner?

I like the MM, got one for my G5 Leopard a few months back and apart from the sensitive scroll in some programs I like it. That said I'm looking at getting the Magic Track Pad for my new iMac in a few weeks.

I prefer the trackpad, but it is hard sometimes to grab the scroll bars, so I also use a Magic Mouse. My keyboard is wired because I like a numerical keypad. But, I always thought keyboards were optional on Macs. Maybe not on iMacs?

Yes, I looked at this when it came out. Fortunately, I waited before buying one. The reviews are generally horrible. Cheap plastic construction, unreliable connection, awkward to use (need to set numlock whenever you want to enter numbers). If only Apple made the same product with apple quality...

I've looked at a few others as well, for example http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UFU76Y/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_5
but I'm still waiting for Apple's version. In the meantime, the wired keyboard will have to do.

Mighty mouse, magic mouse - both unusable, design won over usability - so i have chosen razer deathadder and i am happy with it;) design is fine and it is top quality and quite ergonomic mouse

I just bought myself a Taipan. I'm really hoping Apple includes trackpads and gets out of the mouse business. I abandoned the Mighty Mouse after discovering that simultaneous left+right click was impossible in any configuration, and my few times using the Magic Mouse were filled with inadvertent gestures while trying to just point & click.

Also +1 on full size wireless keyboard+numpad..
