Very true - the scroll wheel is very intuitive for many games where a quick-switch of gear is needed. What I was meaning to point out, though, is that the adaptation of games to using scroll wheels came a while after scroll wheels were already a ubiquitous mouse feature on PCs. There are probably a few hundred PC users who use a scroll wheel to scroll through documents, social media timelines, and discussion board comment sections for each gamer using a scroll wheel in a game.I would still argue that a scroll wheel is particularly important to gamers, though; offhand I cannot think of a computer game I've played in the past two decades which did not rely heavily upon it in some way.
In a past life as a Mac salesperson, I sold a metric f-ton of third-party mice. Good to see that times haven't completely changed since back then.Probably true of some people. Certainly not all, though; you only have to read through a thread like this one to discover the level of discontent with Apple's mice.
I hate them so much. Not being able to go sideways as a dealbreaker.
So add force feedback. If it doesn’t go sideways, it doesn’t work for me.
Cus they’re wheelswhy do you think scroll wheels don't go sideways?
Well, aside from the fact that side-scroll wheels are a thing on some mice (including a particularly popular one in these comment threads), there are some mice that have tilt wheels for side-scrolling.Cus they’re wheels
