Correct -no chance in he_ll the new unibody design will be released before they can put the new Ivy bridge CPU inside it.

The Ivy bridge CPU is a 25 nm size chip as oppose to the current 32 nm Sandy Bridge size chip - and therefore it develops less heat, and since heat seems to be one of the problems in the MBP, you can bet your sweet a$$ that they won't release it before they can put a cooler Ivy bridge CPU in it. Ivy bridge is also 20% faster than Sandy bridge and has better integrated GPU (more a concern for MBA users though)

Ivy Bridge is set for release in late 2011 more likely early 2012.

So in short - NO, I think you're wrong. New unibody MBP redesign won't be out until early 2012 !!

Ivy Bridge will be 22nm not 25nm. The heat produced by a chip depends more on its clock speed and efficiency than strictly its die size. Though a smaller die size allows the chip to be more efficient, this efficiency is lost if high clock speeds (which use lots of power) are used. More likely Ivy Bridge will be cooler but this will be because it will run on a lower clock speed (than its maximum) and have a very aggressive turbo boost. Other engineering factors than die size will determine heat. Ivy bridge will be more efficient and faster than sandy bridge. While Ivy Bridge may run cooler when not under load it will likely run at the same temperature when under load (The TDP of the chips will likely be the same). When under load, a 35 watt core 2 duo and a 35 watt sandy bridge chip will run at the same temperature (or very similar, depends on cooling systems; they will produce a similar amount of heat).

It was the transition to chips with a TDP or 45 watts from a chip with a TDP of 35 watts that is causing the heating problems in the MBP, not the transition to Sandy bridge.

Keeping that in mind, do you guys think that there will or even should be a redesign release at the end of 2011 instead of Q1 2012? What are your thoughts about this? :)

No there will not be a redesign at the end of the year.

The unibodys don't have an overheating problem although different models have had varying degrees of heat production. I'm on my third unibody design MBP.

The cpu paste conspiracy theory is foolishness.
