i already signed up, but i want my status to upgrade into a "verified member" & in order for me to do this, they need my bank information...i already gave them my routing & bank account number...but when they ask me to log in my online banking user id & password...that's when i drew the line...:(

PayPal has never asked me to give them my login information for online banking, and that does seem VERY odd (though my PayPal account was created about... 5-6 years ago).

I know there are people out there that dislike paypal, but... I have a hard time believing any stories about them pulling out money unless you're doing something pretty shifty on ebay. They are still a US based company, and applicable to US laws.

generally, the way paypal verifies a bank account is by making 2 small deposits to your account and getting you to check and type in the amounts that the deposits were for on the paypal page.

Did paypal's page have a spot for your bank login information or did they just want you to log in to online banking (to check for the deposits)?

hey

Hey refurb buyers, does Apple through in a new battery, or do you get an aging one with a couple cycles on it?

Another satisfied Refurb MBP owner. I bought mine last week (yes before MWSF.. I like to gamble). It came with 10.4.10 restore discs and iLife 08. I spent 30 minutes on the phone speaking to 3 different apple reps before they agreed to send me a Leopard upgrade disc. They even had the cheek to try and make me pay for it (£5.95). Luckily I was on day 3 of my quit smoking plan so I wouldn't stand for their crap :)

My Leopard disc arrived the very next day and they'd sent me the full retail box rather than the pesky upgrade disc.

I don't need to reiterate what other people have said about how great the refurbs are - I'll just say that if you are unlucky enough to receive one which is bad (scratched, yellowing, etc) you have your 14-day cooling off period that comes from mail order. So you could always send it back.

I would definitely buy another refurb product - especially on an expensive item such as the MBP. The biggest reassurance to me is the option of Apple care. Nice work Apple.

I didn't get iLife 08 with mine!

If you bought it recently, and the page you bought it from states it should come with iLife 08 (look on the right hand side where is states 'Whats in the Box'). Then phone them up and complain. Be polite but firm. Let them know that you were expecting it as it was listed on the page you bought it from. If you get no-where ask politely if you may speak to their supervisor.

If you still get nowhere let them know that you consider this a breach of contract - and they didn't supply you with something which they stated they would. Most of the time they will send you it just to appease you.

But if you did get it recently then you are entitled to it and shouldn't have to take no for an answer. But make sure you are polite and dont raise your voice too much - the rep on the phone is just doing a job. Its not their fault, and I can't imagine they get paid too much :)

after i gave them my bank routing # & account #...they offered that they will make a small amount deposit in my acount for verification, but it will take 3-5 days to verify...but then they have a bank log on & password boxes provided & asking me to log-in my user id & password for immediate verification...this is when i stopped...i thought NO WAY...but to think of it, they already have my bank's routing & account #...i'm still leary- & checking my bank bal every now & then...planning to call my bank to alert them & change my account #...do you think i should this? appreciate your help
