I'm just waiting for an iPad mini (Pro), that fixes the jelly scrolling issue hopefully with a 120Hz panel. Now that I've seen it, I can't unsee it. Damn you YouTube!!! A nice-to-have would be for Apple to address the weird UI scaling on the mini.
You can get much more for the same or less price if using MBP or MB Air. Unfortunately the software is underdeveloped for this hardware. To get all the hardware benefits you have to get a 2TB Ipad and the cellular version's price is comparative to the MBP price. The thing is the M Ipad (plus the keyboard) can be MB air with a touch screen (but it isn't).Worth it for what though?
I own an M1 Ultra but I still use and get value out of my iPad every day.
probably worthy enough to replace laptop all together, right now several key functions are lacking in the ipadpos to make that happen.Worth it for what though?

macOS isn’t happening, should move past that idea. They won’t won’t give up on iPadOS after all these years
Win win for apple, you bought a MBA. Laughing all the way to the bank 😂Apple is trying to replace laptops with ipads. The reason is simple. All app revenue will pass through the app store (hello 30%). I refuse to take part in this. I love my MBA and will ignore everything apple does on the ipad.
Yeah, I know (but thanks for pointing it out). The thing is, I’ve seen the clock speed of both the M1 on the iPad and the M1 on the MacBook Air, and they are both clocked at 3,2GHz.Stating that 'M2 consumes more power than M1' is not entirely correct. M2 can consume more power than M1 for higher peak performance, but it can also consume just as much power as M1 for slightly better performance (M2 slightly more efficient than M1). These SoCs are very adaptive in their power consumption, and are tuned for optimal behavior for every device and task load.
Strange, in my experience it does exactly what it supposed to do - supporting a touch first computer. Too much performance has never been a problem.Until iPadOS is better the iPad just isn’t worth it imo
I agree, just like updating a Mac every year. I have a 2017 iPP makes it more attractive with a M2 preferably with 14.1 inch miniLED which likely will be nearly the same size as the 2015/2017. Could I use the 2017 for one more upgrade cycle? Probably.iPad yearly upgrades are getting to the point of unnecessary. I think it's time to stretch it out, there's just no point (unless Apple starts this trend of artificially locking out new iPadOS features).
You do realise just because Magsafe is there you don’t have to use it. It will also have USB-CI sincerely hope that we won’t see MagSafe on the new iPad.
Was really looking to upgrade my current iPad to the 2022 Pro version, but MagSafe would be a no go.
I have a lot of USBC cables, and dongles (e.g a card reader), hence would hate yet another connection, simply because Apple wants to sell new accessories. USB C doesn’t have any downsides that would limit an iPad in any way.
Maybe it’s time that the EU will also set up some rules for tablets, like they already did for phones (mandatory need to have USB C)
This is the case for the MacBook. Do you really think Apple will give the iPad 2 ports (MagSafe and USBC)? Anyhow, it will still mean that I need to drag around yet another cable. I have USBC cables everywhere, and they can easily be bought for a few EUR I forget one during a holiday. You do realise just because Magsafe is there you don’t have to use it. It will also have USB-C
of course it will still keep USB-C if Magsafe is there look at iPhones. Magsafe is for charging not data transfer as wellThis is the case for the MacBook. Still rocking my 2018 iPad Pro. Still nothing to convince me to upgrade yet.
Which is fair but I don’t get the thought even crosses’ peoples mind to upgrade yearly. Given you bought the model you have means it suited your needs. Unless their was some crazy way out their feature introduced that you “need” (which could be argued as you don’t have it currently) it’s never worth upgrading.I don’t think I need to upgrade yearly. That is not what was meant by my post. I still do eagerly await to see the updated versions of the products I own though and if by the off chance they have something to entice me to upgrade (rarely the case) then I will but I don’t do it just to have the latest and greatest, I do it for me and my needs.
Those arent even the same category right now… that’s like saying “I sold my speedboat and bought an old camry because I realized I actually needed a car”Ditched my 12.9 2020 IPP for a 11th gen i7 ultrabook, so much better. Realised I need a desktop OS and a mobile OS
