I wish I waited one week to get my iphone and I could have gotten in on the refurbs :(

I purchased a 4 Gig closeout from the Apple Store when they were getting rid of them for $299.

The best phone I've ever had.

I got a refurb from AT&T as a backup for $249 and it's perfect. It's actually the same week/screen as my 4 Gig (one of the awesome series 5 screens). I also ordered a backup SIM card from T-Mobile for $5.

I just can't do without one anymore...

I'm looking into getting a refurbished iPhone (especially after the good luck I had buying a refurb Macbook Pro) if I could only get out of my Sprint contract...

Glad that worked out for ya. $250 is a very reasonable price.

Look to see if they even change the plan by a penny. That'll be a good enough negotiating point.

Or ask if they can pro rate your cancellation fee. (Tis what I did.)

I heard its possible to tell them that you're moving to an area that doesn't get Sprint service, and they're required to let you out of your contract but honestly theres so many things people have tried. Most of the time it just depends on the rep you talk to and your persistence on the matter.

The other thing is that when I got that plan I had a $250 deposit...I'd hate to lose that (and they won't give it back til one year has passed, which is July for me.) I got the plan when I just turned 18. I'm still 18 but surprisingly I checked with AT&T if I'd have a deposit and they said no deposit required :D

I don't want to get too off-topic with this though, and i'll definately be trying all I can or maybe after they credit the $250 on my bill in July use that towards the ETF. Hell, by July maybe they'll be new iPhones, heh.

I'd rather not be stuck with my PocketPC 6700 and Sprint til July of 2009, thats for damn sure!

Oh wow. That's disappointing.

So they change the serial on it?

I wouldn't be too disappointed if I were you. I also have a 8gb refurb that I got as a replacement and am very happy with it. When the phones are refurbished the entire case and glass screen is replaced with brand new parts and only the internal circuitry is reused. And even this circuitry is quality control tested much more thoroughly than a brand new iPhone. Chances are very good that you will have much fewer problems with a refurb iPhone than a new one.

I purchased a refurb from AT&T last week for a family member and it has worked flawlessly so far. It came out to be a week 23 iPhone. Pretty awesome.

Its amazing, can't do without it now, and only had it a week. Looking forward to syncing all my contact and calendar on all my Macs. $249 with full one year warranty can't be beat. BTW, edge is perfectly acceptable, especially if you're not on Youtube all the time. Check on the refurb news forum her on how to get the week build, I think its the 4th and 5th digits on the serial number.
