There have been 2 15" anti-glare refurbs in the past 8 days.

Yeah, I know. I passed on those with the intention of getting a refreshed MBP. I have now decided to go for the current model and roll the cost savings into a higher capacity iPad.

So the wait continues! I will beat you all to the next 15" 2.53 antiglare!

The only one that's available in the US/Canada store is the somewhat older 15 inch with the ExpressCard34 slot and the price has dropped $50CDN.

^yea i saw it as well. almost pulled the trigger but decided to hold out for a 2.53 ag.
The hunt continues...

I have a question: This morning I was looking at the refurbished part of the Apple store.
I saw a 17" 2.8/4GB/500GB (5400rpm) MBP for $400 off.
Is it a good idea to buy refurbished?
Are the computers perfect?
Am I to expect any flaw in the hardware coming with that price cut?
I know I have total warranty and stuff, but are there any flaws to it? (scratched screen, malfunctioning keyboard/trackpad, scratches or dents on the case, etc?)

If not, wtf is the advantage of getting a new one instead of the refurbished?

Thanks!

Yes.

No computer is perfect. Not even brand new ones.

No

Was ready to pull the trigger on this one:

13.3-inch LED-backlit glossy widescreen display
4GB memory
250GB Hard Drive
8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
SD card slot
Built-in 7-hour battery
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics
Illuminated keyboard

$1299

I held out - now its gone, but I am going to try and wait for the new refresh announcement...

The refurb store's inventory has definitely changed since a few months ago. I was spying a few 13 and 15 MBP's and now they are nowhere to be found. I do agree that they don't last long but something has seemed to change as of late.

When I was looking for a MBP 2008 Unibody, I noticed the stock would change atleast 2-3 times a day. So I was checking almost every hour until I grabbed one. A week ago I saw several 13in & 15in in stock. Soon as I forwarded to a buddy they were all gone. The most that I've seen this month is 2.66GHz 15in SD slot and 13in 2.53ghz.

IMO if you know Apple's history and is familiar with their refurbs, most Macheads will buy there just because you get the same warrantee and top of that a great deal. The manager at a local Apple store wanted to know why I was buying a gift card for myself. I said that I was hunting for a 08 MBP 2.53Ghz and didn't want any hangups when I went to checkout online. :)

Me too! Though I expect i5/i7 MBP's any day now that I have bought!

Oh well, the savings over buying a new model MBP will pay for half my iPad at least!

I'm actually hoping they do refresh within a couple weeks because if that happens, they are obligated to give us an even bigger discount. So for you that means you'll pretty much be getting a free iPad haha
