Just like a brand new device.

EDIT: if purchased directly through Apple.

What are your guys experiences with a refurbished iPhones?
Apple calls them remanufactured. They get a new battery and new casing. All parts are tested in a process more rigorous than the testing process for new phones. And they come with a 90 day warranty.

This is assuming you are buying from Apple (or receiving a replacement). Anywhere else, your quality can vary.

I've had three remanufactured replacements for my iPhone 5. Each one has been better than the last.

I wouldn’t waste my time on any refurbished phone that wasn’t done by Apple. You’re taking too big of a risk.

If you don’t want to buy new, I’d buy a mint one on Swappa before I ever bought a non-Apple refurbished phone. Who knows if the non-Apple refurbished phone even used oem parts, but my guess would be no in order to maximize their profit. No warranty most likely. It’s not worth it.

Swappa is a safe bet. EBay I would completely avoid. Sometimes with carriers with refurbished devices, they can tell you directly if Apple refurbished the phone or if they used some type of other company like ‘Asurion’ that refurbished the phone. But as you said, I don’t trust any third-party retailer that refurbishes phones, only from Apple.

You can get a brand new Unlocked iPhone X at BestBuy between $649 and $749 depending on your carrier. They seem to hate T-mobile though. So I got a two day old Unlocked iPhone X as a certified open box in excellent condition for $637.99 plus tax today. Returned my iPhone XS and saved $400. Will upgrade in September if it’s worth it.

Exactly ... Apple Certified Refurbished are likely better than new because of the process. The warranty is one year.
