Some of them even cheaper than education-discounts. Recently ordered from edu store, I wish I'd waited a little bit more...

Wow, over 400$ savings on the highest end models? I would definitely not buy them new at this point.

Hmmm, I ordered a New Retina Macbook Pro 2013 with the specs below from BHPHOTOVIDEO the last week of 2013 for a discounted price and no sales tax and its still on backorder with no time frame on availability.

A refurb from Apple with taxes saves me 90 dollars and presumably I will get it with in the week.

So should I cancel my order and spring for a refurbished purchase from Apple?

Does the refurbished lose resale value quicker? Any problems I may encounter?

15.4-inch (diagonal) Retina display; 2880-by-1800 resolution at 220 pixels per inch
16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
512GB Flash Storage1
720p FaceTime HD camera
Intel Iris Pro Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M

If any of these have the LG displays, I'm convinced you're in for a bad time.

As somebody who's about to buy a top of the line 2.6GHz model rMBP, care to explain why the LG panels would be bad?

I'll go dig for that terminal command to check display brand too...

Probably 90%+ of the 2012 LG displays in rMBPs suffered ghosting. Samsung had 0%. I had to return mine 3 times before I got a Samsung. It took 3 weeks for my original 2012 LG rMBP to display very serious ghosting problems.

I have not checked if they still use LG displays in the 2013 or if LG fixed the issue.

There is zero difference between resale value of a refurbished and purchased new. Same warranty, everything exactly like new. I've always purchased refurbished when I can from Apple. Apple refurbished products are not like other companies refurbished products where there is a noticeable difference between new and refurbished.

Funny, now people will wish their MacBook has something ''Scamsung'' inside :p

I've been saving all summer for the refurbished models and now it's out, I'm deciding to wait some more for the 15'' Retina MacBook Pro 16GB 1TB Irish Pro & Nvidia Graphics Model or just get the 1TB one without the Nvidia Graphics

All summer? They were released in fall.

Actually, for most people, it was still cheaper to buy them new from B&H or Amazon in the pre-Black Friday sales than either EDU or these refurb prices, once you take everything into account.

So i guess now they are starting to sell of all those yellow tinted rMBP's.
They probably couldn't fit more in their warehouses. :)

Now most want LG displays instead.
Both brands have had HUGE issues with yellow tinted fields on the display.
I've swapped my rMBP out 3 times.

The reason people rather have LG now tho is because it has better whites mostly. The Samsung displays have a tendency to be a bit warm.

So he couldn't have saved up for it before it was released?
Perfect logic...

Yes, I would cancel if it is cheaper.

No, refurbs do not lose their resale value quicker. No problems, as the machine comes with standard Apple warranty and available for Applecare.

Nice. As soon as the 13" models start showing up, I'm ordering.

Not everyone can just save 3k in a month. I myself am a college student, and I would indeed have to save ALL summer, and then some.

See I have a wife and four kids and another one on the way so I had all summer to save for it because once school started for my kids. Saving 3k for a MacBook Pro would be hard cause i'm shopping for my kids, paying bills, rent and taking care of other important stuff and also doing Christmas shopping so un-least i'm not the only one.

does anybody know if you could combine corporate discounts with refurb pricing? I get 8% back so I'm really interested to see if it's worth getting a refurb for a 13"er. If your'e saving 90 i'm thinking i would only save like $40

Enjoy the five yellow screened ones I sent back.

Get a bargain now folks, free cat piss with every display!
