With all these posts about people returning their Midnight because of fingerprints, or how people bought a MBP and an MBA not sure what to keep, or returning for different SSD, etc. Maybe I should wait a few weeks to buy. The refurb section could be flooded and get a good deal. lol

Won’t be that fast. Return stock will be used for replacements for current customers or spare parts. You’ll likely be waiting at least 6 months if not longer for them to hit the refurb store.

unless apple holds them for a while, until they feel it's the right time to offer refurbs (this is just a guess! but i'd think they wouldn't start offering them for some time)...

Refurbs will be here within a month or two months, it's always dependent on where the refurbs are sourced.

They offered the new MBP models surprisingly quick
My suspicion was that move was in response to the lengthy lead times of custom and even base MBPs. They did the same for the Mac Studio. I guess they would rather sell these units at a marginal discount rather than loose the sale altogether.

I cannot imagine they show up for at least six months. Since the old M1 is still up for sale, refurbed M2's will be directly competing (price-wise) with an M1.

I’ll buy it now for the student discount and the gift card.
