dont order a refurbished one. I ordered one and i got nothing but trash. bent keys, dead pixels, etc... if i were u go with a new one + a student discount and it'll be a small difference that is well worth it.

Ignore that comment, I have a refurb MBP 15" and mine has been fine.

Refurbs come with the OS installed with which they originally shipped. No Snow Leopard refurbs will exist for months.

Correct, but they put a drop in DVD after the shipping day, and it's up to the user to upgrade.

I strongly disagree on the refurb, do a search and u'll find plently of people complaining about dead pixels. Maybe i am the unluckiest person in the world, but i would MUCH rather walk into a store and get it exchanged instead of waiting for days for a macbook pro. I recently sent my refurb for a refund and i have to wait 5-7 days for my refund. its rediculous dealing with the online apple store. they told me i couldnt return it at my local apple store.

So in conclusion, I personally would just buy it new at a local apple store, because if any issues occur, u can bitch at someone in person and get what u want instantaneously.

As for those who have had no problems with their refurbished, you either dont have a good eye for defects, or I am really unluckly.

Apple sent me two trashed Macbook Airs. Dented touchpad, bent bezel with glue coming out of the crack onto the screen, warpe based, stress marks on aluminum (screw pits), bent function keys, and a display with a large, dark blotch dead-centre.

Ended up buying a new 13" MBP. Will never buy refurbished units again.

I'm glad a lot of you of have had good luck with the refurbs. I was going to post that same question. I previously wasn't sure on refurbs because one time I bought my wife a refurbed i-pod nano, 2nd gen i think, and it seemed like it was put together with parts that were out of dimensional spec...the feel just wasn't right and wouldn't recognize commands sometimes.

Anyway, i had bad luck with an i-pod nano, but I think I will try a refurbed MBP. Refurb is the way to go...Thanks for the help guys.

And just like with Leopard if I remember correctly, ALL refurbs are shipping with Snow Leopard.
