You guys are all wrong;

A drive can be changed up to 25 times; After the first 5 times, the drive can to sent back to the manufacturer to be reset back to 0, then then it can set 5 more times, so 4 resets in total by the OEM; it is after these 25 times you cannot reset anymore and you are essentially an idiot.

Can anyone actually recommend a replacement drive, I just looked on OWC and they do not have nay for the macbook pro.

what happened?

have to say ive never had any problems with it, playing either discs or images

Two different things happened. One disc would not be recognized, the other would 'play' but skip through until the end of the play and go to the end.... I want to go test the same discs on my other friend's computer -who also swears by VLC-

so who knows, maybe I need to re-dl for some reason.

I recent 'dl-ed' another disc image and it played just fine. It's just DVD's
