I'm good for about ten minutes of surfing before a crash WILL happen.

Crashes in iPhone Safari are a given, and they're going to happen often. I hate it, but here I am still using it. Crazy.

yup, every once in a while safari just quits unexpectedly and I have to reopen Safari. It doesn't happen that much (watch it happen all the time after saying this) but when I clean out all the history/cache/cookies it seems to fix it. if i have 3 pages open it has crashed once. or if you hit any site that has flash, sometimes it crashes.

i hope a fix comes to make it more stable.

I had to post my observations of the last few days too. I wonder what happened that would make Safari crash during just about every surfing session I start. It's incredibly unstable now. Fix this Apple, it's an embarrasment.

Turn your phone off at night... That will fix it, seriously.

No, it won't.

I have to reset my phone every time I have a 302 error (otherwise clicking the link again will produce a 302 error again four times out of five) - I've done it at least twenty times over the weekend.

From what I hear, Safari crashes a lot every few months until its rebooted, so turning it off at night when your not sleeping will fix it if thats whats happening with your iPhone, if you have some other problem (which it sounds like you do) then I have no idea (assuming you have already restored it, of course).

I thought mine wasn't bad when I had 2.0.2, a couple times here and there. Now after having 2.1 since it's release, it chokes up all the time (whether it be 1 page or 4 open) and it usually just closes out on it's own ("mini crash") I least once a Safari session.

A couple of days ago I experienced the first "full crash" of safari, I was browsing and then the phone stopped responding, no "keys" work, home button wouldn't shut down safari (even holding it for more then 10s, force quit). I eventually had to just reboot the phone (lock and home button).

Oh, and my phone has been jailbroken. The only thing I can come up with is, not clearing your history, cache, and cookies. It seems if I haven’t done that in a while, safari just gets really buggy.

Every few months??? Wow I wish that were true.

For me it is definitely related to the size/complexity of a page. For instance if you go into a larger Slashdot.org conversation it is guaranteed to crash. Also on forums, and it seems like the more threads I go into the more likely the crash is going to happen.

And it isn't always while loading, sometimes it can be while scrolling an already loaded page, or in very rare cases while just sitting on a loaded page (these tend to be much larger pages though).

I get at least 4 crashes per day. Every so often I will turn off then turn back on the iPhone to see if it helps. Never does.

Follow these practice

Hi guys,

you guys should follow these practice when you're surfing the Internet using iPhone's safari. This is what I did and iPhone safari does not crash very often. So, wish to share with you guys the post on my blog over here.

Cheers~~

My Safari crashes all depend on where I am, what webpage I am visiting, and how many windows I have open. I find that when I am on the EDGE network, crashes occur more often. When certain pages are taking longer to load, crashing occurs. Same with when I have too many pages open. Now, I'm not exactly sure if this is Apple's or AT&T's problem. It could be Apple's if they set a very low threshold for crashing. Apple would probably desire Safari to crash instead of the entire OS - a la Windows.

As for certain webpages crashing, probably Apple's fault for not making Safari more efficient and stronger. It likely senses a problem with loading, then just crashes for the same reason stated above.

Now, I can't really say if this is a huge problem because I have never used a browser on any other mobile platform. To me, with my limited mobile experience, getting the internet on a phone is already amazing, so I don't mind the crashing as much. Does Win Mo's browser crash as much?

I'd take it back if I were experiencing frequent crashes. Thankfully I haven't had to deal with crashes since 2.2.

Do you live in an area where cell service is choppy? That may have something to do with it.
