Wow.... Hard to believe that Steve did not want more control over this biography. I guess he is only a control freak when it comes to things that he/Apple imagines and creates. I sure hope this does not mean "the end is near" as some have suggessted. Like him or not, the guy has done a ton for the computer industry among others - he is brilliant. There are few I put in the same class with Jobs -- Gates being one of them. These guys were to the computer industry what the Lakers and Celtics were to the NBA in the eighties.

He likely DID have a lot of control over the book... the author had over 40 interviews with him. And after 3 decades, this is the first *authorized* biography. I don't think Jobs would have authorized it had he not been sure it would show him in a good light.

The original MacRumors article seems to indicate that he is not even asking to read it before hand and left no topic off limits.

As sad as it is, it makes me wonder if Jobs finally approved of a biography because he knew his final days were on the horizon.

Everyone's final days are "on the horizon". It's just a question of how far away that horizon is, and what you do before you get there.
I'm willing to bet Jobs still has more to give than most will manage in their whole lifetime.

I'd love an autobiography by the man himself. The only way to truly get inside someone's mind is to read his writing. No matter how much this author knows about Jobs, it's nothing compared to how invaluable an autobiography would be.

Jobs is the kind of guy where you want to see his insight, his opinions and the way he sees the world. The concrete facts are (in my opinion) less important in comparison to Job's bigger picture mentality. But this is something I'll definitely get when it releases either way.

I'm just shocked that image is being used both on the website and book cover. IMO the cutout appearance and pasting on a new background looks terrible. Just look the facial hair along the edge of the face, the poorly edited ears, and head hair. With just about any photo editing software available even I could do a better job than that.

Whoo hoo!

This is going to be awesome!
I hope it talks about when he went to the Moon of Endor and how he mastered his reality distortion field powers!!

re the book of job(s)

first book i'll probably actually read in 5 years since reading
"first man..." - the official biography of neil armstrong

"I guess we all like to be recognized not for one piece of fireworks, but for the ledger of our daily work." - neil armstrong

Probably want to add the release and success of the iPhone 5 to the biography. This way there's no need to revise it next year.
Hopefully the iPad 3 is also added.

I think the title "iSteve: The Book of Jobs" is a great title. I guess they didn't want to piss off people.

Well seeing that the book of Job is in the Old Testament, you may want to lay off your bigotry against Christians and go after Jews.
