Apparently the book only has odd-numbered pages....you have to pay Apple a $1.99 fee for an upgrade that reveals the even-numbered pages.

If you hold the book with a 'death-grip' then the pages fall out. Apple will sell you a book spine 'bumper' to stop this happening.

Any more?

I'm sure the book will be interesting. However, it is an AUTHORIZED biography.
Authorized biographies do tend to be somewhat biased, lacking in objectivity, and sometimes truthfulness.

As for Jobs not controlling the final version, or even reading it - in the MR opening article it states that the above information was "According to ... the publishers."

I might take all that "Jobs was hands off" stuff with a grain of salt. What would the publisher say, "Jobs controlled the whole thing"??

Before I get totally flamed - I respect Jobs, but I do not revere him. Maybe a genius, but not a god.

Finally, I'm sure the book is worth reading - hagiography or not.

Authorized biogs are never as juicy as the unauthorized half-siblings...

All the best anecdotes we've read on MR (most recently, the ESPN CEO/Disney board meeting) are ones where Steve is acting like an Aspergic prize tool and thus, those are the types we won't be seeing included in this book sadly.

I'm interested to see how much time is devoted to Jobs' drug usage and his current (or recent) opinion on mind altering substances...

Well seeing that the book of Job is in the Old Testament, you may want to lay off your bigotry against Christians and go after Jews.

Don't see where the bigotry is... but anyways... I think the tile would have been misleading to some people, thinking it's about how to get a job or something like that. Or just sounded too casual...

You've come to the thread after mods edited it. For the record I thought the "Book of Jobs' was rather clever.

Past tense?

Am I the only one who finds the fact that the last paragraph of the overview of the book is written in the past tense rather creepy? (emphasis mine, below)

"He was not a model boss or human being, tidily packaged for emulation. Driven by demons, he could drive those around him to fury and despair. But his personality and products were interrelated, just as Apple's hardware and software tended to be, as if part of an integrated system. His tale is thus both instructive and cautionary, filled with lessons about innovation, character, leadership, and values."

Mine will be signed as I am good friends with Walter, the institute being one of my biggest clients.

His Biography on Einstein was great, this one ought to be a great read as well....

..Jobs has cooperated with the book and has not asked for any control over the final product. He has reportedly left no topic off-limits for the book and has not even requested the right to read it before publication, suggesting that the book will yield the most open look at Jobs' personal and professional life yet published.

Bunch of baloney. Jobs and Open don't go hand in hand. This will be a curated look at his personal and professional life, spruced up to meet shiny 'standards'. Would be very surprised to see anything of controversial or critical nature.

That said I will end up consuming it anyways - may be the audio book as then I hopefully don't have to deal with the cover photo which is too creepy for my tastes :p

Still drops Acid I am almost certain of it.

I wonder how thin the book will be? Will Steve have any say on the aesthetics with some form over function? A magically new way to read physical books? How do we hold it? Why doesn't Ive get more credit??? Will there be naked photos for fanboys? I need answers!

I should get at least 5+ thumbs down lets get to that boys.

Correct.

If Steve authorized this biography, then he had control over its content.

And we all know how laid-back and hands-off Steve's management style is. I'm sure he'll just ignore all the details and let things just slide through because he's a completely lazy slacker who is grateful for how much he gets paid to run Apple Inc.

I look forward to reading it (have it preordered on Amazon; feel like it deserves more than a ebook copy!) as I really enjoyed reading iWoz. I still remember some of the stories from it to this day having read it three or four years ago.

So, Steve is a chin-holder. Why do so many top corporate executives hold their chins when they are photographed?
