Loved my RM2 - however it was impossible to read when darker. Remarkable Paper Pro with backlight was my hope for a solution, but it was HORRIBLE to use since the backlight was not strong enough and hence useless and most annyingly the screen refreshes 3 (!!) times after every input. Constant bliniking. If this new smaller one also has the same tech it is a useless paper weight.

That said, the RM2 monochrome with a strong backlight would be still amazing. The software is 10 times better than all the writing software for the iPad and it gives a clear folder structure and good sync capabilities for your documents. Loved that and miss that on my iPad.
Completely agree. I love my Remarkable 2 and was disappointed when I got the Remarkable Pro. Pro just doesn’t have the same softness and sense of contact with the pen when writing, to me Pro just feels like writing on a scratchy hard surface.

I wish they would do this form factor based on the RM2 tech rather than the RM Pro. I don’t need colour for a notepad.

I wonder when we could shrink it down to 6" Smartphone Size and ultra thin, compact and light.

Not sure about this product, but I'm glad there are still companies innovating and releasing new products. Take the risk!

Just as a warning to anyone who is tempted, you have to pay a monthly subscription to sync this:

A tip for anyone who is tempted: look at competing offerings from Boox. With apps (Google Play Store), no subscription.

First, let's admit it. iPads are mostly used for media consumption. Watching movies and YouTube. Or maybe web browsing. E-ink can't do that. This is a very Niche product

Web browsing, watch movies and YouTube? E-ink can do that, albeit at ~10 fps. Enough for most Japanese cartoons.

It looks great.

But in making something that so closely emulates paper does beg the question … umm why not just use paper?

Paper is notorious for buzzing at you and sucking you into social networks. We're trying to help people think here.
