I would never pay $100 for a watch band. I also don't like this year's design for the braided loop -- it just doesn't seem that elegant to me. However, I'm proudly waving the newly inclusive Pride flag at my house.

I really like the look, but I do not like sport bands and would never bother to even try solo loops ... but to each their own

Like this. It would be WAY too tight, but I'd be concerned that looser would be a loss hazard. And I heard all the carping about the plastic fixed size bands, and decided to stay away from fixed sizes, JIC... But it does look nice. Reflectivity would be a bonus. Hmm...
I tried out their sizing tool and the fit is just perfect. Not too loose nor too tight, just right. Those colors really look better in person, compared to the renders.

Pricey AF? Absolutely.

Oooh, looks even better than the renders.

What renders? Last I checked, Apple doesn’t release renders, only actual photos of their products. They take those photos under very highly controlled conditions, which can make them look a touch odd at times. And for colors, often seeing real world pics in sunlight helps quite a bit (so shots like the member submitted photos in this thread can be very helpful). But I’m curious now if there were some actual renders posted somewhere.

How would a watch band not be compatible with older watches? Did they slightly modify the latch mechanism or is it just the watch face that’s incompatible?

Yeah I don’t understand it either, especially since the other braided loops do fit, even if they aren’t being advertised as strictly compatible. I went into an Apple store last week and tried one of the (non-Pride) braided bands on with my series 3 and it seemed to fit fine, so I’m not sure why they’re saying they don’t.

They’re renders.

There, fixed it. Happy?

I have several type of band, and this one is the one I prefer. Hold just fine and really fast to put on.

But it’s not worth 100$.
more like 10$ (ok , maybe 20$).
But it’s exactly what I paid on Amazon.

I have 4-5 no-name bands @10$ and they all quite good quality.

Being gay compulsary to buy them? Why name them Pride? This is not homophobic comment btw. Does it have Pride written anywhere just in case regular folks are interested?
Apple wants to support a cause, that’s why it’s explicitly called a pride edition.

I’m straight and somewhat tempted to grab one purely because I think it looks pretty neat in the photos people have been posting. In particular it seems to go fairly well with the blue casing I have, which often clashes a bit with a number of bands. If I don’t get it it’ll be more a matter of cost…I already have an Inverness green woven band I wear daily and I’m not sure I want to pay another $130AUD for a second woven band.

One could argue that in many contexts by wearing either of these bands you will be seen as accepting and respectful of LGBTQ+ peoples' rights, so if you do not want to convey that message, you may not want to wear either of these bands. Otherwise, absolutely you can buy or wear either band regardless of whether you consider yourself LGBTQ+ or not! The band I bought is the braided pattern made up of the colors of various Pride flags, and, as pictured, without any wording. Regarding the colors, trust the pictures posted in this thread over the renders, even the band on the box doesn't properly capture the beauty! I have not bought the Nike band, so cannot speak to it, but I would imagine if there were any words Apple would picture them. No previously released Pride bands have had any words or phrases on them, so I presume the Nike sport bands do not. I hope that answered your question!

The braided one includes additional colors:
- Black for the Black community
- Brown for the Hispanic / Latinx community
- Pink, light blue, and white for the trans community

That’s why it has more colors.

If you just want the regular rainbow, they are also offering that style of band (not pictured here).

Edit: Really? Downvotes on a post explaining why the band was designed the way it was?
Didn't know what colors represented what. Thanks for explaining!

No, of course anyone can wear them, and they don't say "Pride" on the bands, which I believe is clear from the pics. My wife (who is straight) has one and likes it.

Milking Pride month.

Yes, for sure, but I remember when a company showing support for any part of the LGBTQ+ community was corporate suicide, so it's still an improvement.

Both of my Pride bands from last year have "Pride 2020" written on the inside of the band. There's nothing on the outside to be seen while wearing the watch.
