I have a long video and there are some scenes where the music gets loud, at the wrong moment. To be honest, it is very possible it is intentional to obfuscate the voice. Paranoid or not, I am curious how do I remove background music, and keep the voice. The background music is piano and the voice is spoken. I am trying centre channel extraction in audition without success but i really am not an expert on audio.

It doesn't need to be perfect, just understandable so I can caption it then have it translated.

Unless you have the background music as a separate audio file, in which case you'd phase reverse that to cancel it out, it would probably require a professional audio restoration/editing tool to achieve your goal. I've had amazing results with this in the past:

I did extract the audio from the video but not sure which tools I should use. I have Audition at home and Sony at work. Not sure which offers the best/easiest method for a novice. It is a synthesised piano I am trying to remove to better hear the conversation going on.
