Removing Items From The Dock

    Hey my mac is acting really strange every time i download a file from the internet and put it on my dock its fine. But then when i Remove it from the dock and try opening up the application it says ex. "Skype is in the trash"
    could you guys help me fix it thanks

    Items in the dock are shortcuts. When you download an app, be it contained in a .zip or .dmg, move the app (not the .dmg) to your applications folder first, then drag it from there to the dock. You can then safely trash the .zip or .dmg file.

    I think we need a bit more info:

    What kind of files are you downloading?

    What's in the Trash? (click on the Trash icon to open the folder)
