Why? And lose screen? You do know the notch doesn’t take away screen, but rather the ears add screen. The ears move the status info off the screen you would have had normally, giving more screen to apps and their content.

Because the notch looks stupid?
Because there's not enough room to enable the current battery percentage? (total dealbreaker for me and a lot of people)
Because a lot of apps won't even use the "extra" space?

I won't buy a phone with a notch. You can...I won't. Ever.

I mean I understand your preference here, but how do you know that? What about the engineers who designed the iPhone X and put the effort behind it to implement this technology. We don't know that the notch could exist or could not exist based on all the sensors and speakers. But that doesn't mean that the notch can't change over time as the iPhone X continues to evolve.
