This is for the battery of my iBook 12". Bought in october, dies in april. Rest in pieces, little piece of sh***
It has a nice to look at curved surface... maybe the next big thing in tech? Curved batteries?
<Sarcasm off>
subtel is the brand - keep your fingers away. 31 load cycles. dead.

RoHS is another brand i can't recommend. I have one in the PB and after 64 load cycles it has only 58% capacity left after one year of usage.

And then there is the 14" iBook with it's original Apple battery: 99 load cycles, 65% capacity , 2 hours battery life (Spotify, Word and T4F with 2 - 10 tabs open)

Bulging Li-Ion batteries are all the trend. The more gaseous, the more exciting! Even the Apple Watch is enjoying the bulge.

Speaking of which, I was digging through boxes of parts on the weekend and found the MacBook (White Unibody '09) battery I mentioned in the first post. One of the cells had ballooned up to be almost completely spherical. I don't know the chemistry involved and whether the gas build up could cause a flame to ignite, but I feel lucky it didn't start a fire in my office.

The smell emanating from the ballooned battery was like that of a permanent marker / pen. Curiously, I took it outside to the grass and popped it, but nothing happened, no heat or spark. Anything resembling electricity surely left it long ago. It just unrolled like tin foil and went out in the trash.

Unfortunately with cheap and nasty batteries like these, if they are going into a MacBook / MBP which doesn't have an easily accessible battery bay, it could easily do irreversible damage. Whereas with an iBook, PowerBook or early MB/MBP it would be much easier to spot and attend to a bulging battery before it does any damage.

I can't even find anywhere that sells batteries for PPC macs... OWC doesn't carry them anymore. I don't want to trust any of the random ones on amazon or eBay. I've got 2 PB G4s and an iBook G4 I need batteries for. Where are you guys finding batteries for these things?

I got one from ebay for about 20$ i think and it served me well and if one of you guys want it let me know its for ibook g4 A1054 12"

The last OWC/Newertech battery I bought was a TiBook battery about a year ago. I only got a few months out of it before it basically completely died.

I think @Gamer9430 had the same experience with a TiBook battery around the same time. I missed the RMA window on getting mine replaced, but they pulled them shortly after he and I both had duds. I suspect that they were old stock.

The last bulging battery I had in a system I owned was a in a 2010 MacBook(white). These have a glass "buttonless" trackpad, and I noticed one day that the trackpad was hard to click. I let it be for a few days, and the right side of the case started swelling. When I undid the bottom screws, the bottom case popped off. Needless to say, I pulled the battery and took it into work. I called waste disposal and told them about it, and fortunately they came and got it for me. By the time they came to get it, it was about twice its normal thickness.

I just put a Newertech in a 2011/2012 MBP this past week(2011 case that I'm putting a 2012 LoBo in). Hopefully it serves me well. I've put a few Newertech batteries in "non replaceable battery" computers-@gamer9430 has the MBA 1,1 that I put one in. My 2010 MacBook has one, and now of course MBP 8,1/9,2. I've had a few in AlBooks and pre-uni MBPs that have served me well.

I bought one of the random ones on Amazon for my 15" PB G4 over six months ago and its still treating me quite well. Pretty sure I linked it earlier in this thread if you're interested.
Edit: Sorry, guess I didn't link it earlier. This is what I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MS8D3IQ/

12" Powerbook batteries are now at ridiculous prices. They're cheaply made, aren't guaranteed to work for very long (or at all), and yet sellers now want $200 for them. Two years ago, you could snag them for no more than $30 all day. Luckily, the one I bought then still works well.

Same with Titanium PB batteries. None of the three that I bought a few years ago still work (one was DOA and the seller was a complete douche about it. I had to file a complaint to get my money back), and even the two that did work only lasted a few months. Same deal- they want $200 for them now.
