That really is an interesting site.

Of all of the macs I have ever bought (30+?) -- NONE of them have ever had issues that have warranted a return or repair. amazing how many there are for the 27".

I yes, I have bought several refurbs and Rev A versions.

I had had the same experience as you, which is why I ordered a 27" i7 iMac with confidence. I'm talking real rev A products like the first MBP and a day-one iPhone.

Unfortunately, I've had to return three so far and have a forth on the way. Maybe my luck just caught up with my, but I do think the iMac screen problems are more than the normal glitches.

Here's hoping the forth times the charm....

I hate to say this, but if you can't be without a computer for a day, I wouldn't order an iMac. I think you'll probably get a good one, and if you don't you can probably arrange for an advance replacement (they'll just need to secure it with your credit card. But it doesn't look like probably is good enough in your case.

Maybe keep saving so you don't have to sell your current machine upfront. Also, order the iMac with the stock 4GB and order an additional 4GB from someone else like macsales. That'll save you ~$100. Also, you can buy Apple Care anytime within the first year, so if that was part of the equation, you could buy that after the fact.

thanks for a great advice!!!! ... i am not too worried about the ram ... its the storage space which wants me get a BTO .... if i get a i7 , 4GB ,1TB .. will it be shipped from USA ?

how does this 2-3 replacements works? you send them one back .. when they receive it they put in a replacement order? thats like 10 days right there for the whole process... so 4th replacement means u are doing this thing since over a month now ? thats a lot of pain
