Ill just leave the sp on for now

But god damn it takes long for my case to arrive

I hope it comes this week

Hey guys i just got the case but I think the silent/sound switch on the case is defective

Also call quality seems lowered

Doesn't sound as clear

I mentioned about the silent switch in the review video. It never really works either on the genuine or the knockoff version.

Also it seems that my wifi takes forever to load

And maybe ill remove that black tape on the headset so i can hear better

have you noticed a definite difference with the case on vs with it off for wifi speeds? I never did but its great to see how it works for everyone on their individual networks. I use a linksys wrt54gl btw for my network. There was one other poster on here who liked it better without the tape as well. I think he posted earlier on in the thread. i was thinking of poking little holes through the tape with a pin to start but it sounded pretty good to me so I just left it for extra protection. Another idea i had was to put some of the mesh tape from the bottom speaker holes over the top if worse came to worse, but like I said it sounded no quieter than the otterbox or any other heavy case so I just left it.

Post pics tho!

I will later when i get home
But yeah theres a difference with the wifi speed.

Its alot slower .. Maybe its my gf wifi connection thats making it slow and not the case

Ill have to see when I get home to do further testing

And yeah it sucks for the volume/mute button cause once you put it on mute you can never put it back to volume and now my phone is stuck on vibrate.

Ill have to always remove the case to put volume back which sucks.

But overall i really love this case on how it feels..just wish I can find a fix for the mute/ volume and the headset quality

when you put i together put the phone on unmute and make sure the silent switch on the case is the same then you put it in the case silent switch side first. (I was gonna include a vid on putting it together but in the interest of time i cut that segment.) Look for the instructional for the genuine case assembly though the instructions are the same. Thereafter it should be pretty impossible to switch it to either mute or unmute. Then just enable accesibility opptions and triple click your home button which will bring up a user panel to enable or disable silent mode right from your screen.

As far as the wifi, if its just slower on your gfs network but its equally slow there with or without the case on then its the network, but if youre sitting in the same spot doing the same thing and you try it with the case on and then try it with the case off and there are less signal strength bars then it would be clear that it is the case at that point. Check it out and experiment and post your findings because there could be some interference on different routers or perhaps different bands that have yet to be determined.

What do u mean triple click the home button
I do that and it doesn't do anything lol

My phone is still on vibrate

As for the wifi it's better now

k go to 'settings>General>Accessibility scroll to the bottom and click on 'triple-click home' now select 'assistive touch' so that entry is checked. now go to your regular iphone home screen and triple click the home button. wait for a second and a little black square with white circle in the middle should appear on your screen. touch that and press on 'device' and there are all your controls for silent on/off whatever.

----------

triple click the home button to make the little black square with white circle go away again if its in your way.

Alright im back home and it was just my gf place that the wifi was slow

Im at home and the speed is fast

Also I put a hole on the speaker (headset) and now I can hear clearly again.

As for the mute/volume..that issue still remains and is the only downside to this case

awesome to hear things are working well.

ya i did have high hopes lunatik's silent switch design as I thought it was a great idea but turned out to be poorly executed. I feel like it could be tweaked with to make it work but it might rub the side of the phone if its notched too deep so Im just gonna leave mine. Same problem with the real one from what Im hearing though so it just didnt really translate well to real life i guess.

----------

btw did u get the silver? who are you liking the color in real life?

Yeah I got the silver and so far i really love it

Black looked nice too tho but I wish they had a white aluminium case

As for yesterday ..im not sure about the wifi again..cause sometimes it works and sometimes it has difficulty loading things.
Maybe its the case thats causing this but I have no idea.

Wish I could try a plastic one to see if theres any differences in loading speed

Anyway to test the wifi so I can know for sure its the case thats causing this?

Yup there sure is. Simply unscrew the case but leave it on the phone. Close down safari so its opening new. Then open a web page with safari with your wifi on and case on and notice how efficiently it does this. Now close down safari again and without changing position or changing settings take the phone out of the case holding it in the same way and open the same web page with safari exactly as you did before and notice any change. Now repeat this process about ten times (with case and without) never moving and never changing your process. If there doesn't seem to be any discernible pattern then it's fine. There's so many variables that you have to eliminate as many of them as possible when you do a test to find out for sure.

I will say though I strangely enough I get better wifi on my 3GS than I ever did on my iphone5. I do find the iPhone 5 to be a little weak as far as maintaining wifi at range. From wat I have read so far it appears the wifi antenna may be located on the upper rear glass panel around the camera area. Some people reported that covering that area with their hand caused a wifi signal drop but I was never able to consistently duplicate that. The key to any testing is consistently duplicating a phenomenon because there's a lot if factors that come into play in real life that work together to cause many and varied results but don't necessarily reflect on a fault with what we may think is the issue. So when troubleshooting isolation and consistent reproduction is the key to getting to the truth. Hope that helps. Def post your findings of the test

I just skimmed through the past few pages and didn't see any comment on LTE. I'm guessing the aluminum case completely wrecks the signal?

I don't have lte where I am like I mentioned in the review video so I was able to definitively test it. But the cell signal while connected to the network on the 3G network was unaffected. According to the insight given me by my friend who is an engineer, the case, as long as not physically touching the antenna should have no significant impact on cellular signal and personally I'm inclined to go with that prognosis. But anyone who has lte access on here with the aluminum case I'd love to see some decibel tests to help compile extra data.

Occasionally if it gets humid like I'm at the gym and I press really hard on the glass like if I'm cleaning it down after. That seems to cause it a bit. But it's not terrible like wen the plastic screens do it but to some it's annoying. One guy had a solution for it on the lunatik site. Basically just put an ultra thin piece of tape across where the home button switch is on the glass ( like the tape that's on the top) and it spaces it enough to prevent rainbowing

Because you'll notice the rainbowing never occurs at the top of the glass just around the home button side

Alright guys im at a tim Hortons and and their wifi is super fast so maybe the case is not causing any problems and also I never had any issues with call quality signal..I however made small holes on the black tape where the headset is and my phone sounds 100x better

awesome to hear. thanks for the update and tip on the earpiece. I can hear okay with the tape intact but im an recording engineer so Im used to picking out softer sounds.

Im telling u man..if u pole holes it sounds alot better and with the wifi i find its less responsive in a basement

thats interesting because when I did my initial tests for signal reduction by completely covering my phone with multiple layers of tin foil the only time i got a discernable difference in cell signal strength while the tin foil was one was when I was actively on a call and i had it on the bottom of a chest freezer in the basement (lol ya i know i tested it every way i could think of )

Lol yeah i can see that man

Btw I messaged iphonecase2011 about the mute/volume issue and he said there isn't suppose to be a problem ..he even sent me a video of him using his mute/volume switch and they work flawlessly .. Anyways he sent me another middle part to see if it would fix the problem
