I am very glad for people who has just bought the 2020 iPad Pro and sad for people like me who was waiting for this model to update their existing 1st gen iPad Pro.
I know people will say that it is plenty fast, it doesn't slow down..etc which is completely true. But if i am paying 1.5k for an iPad and plan to keep it for 4 years as i did like the one that i have right now, I'd rather not pay for a 2 year old CPU. Even tho, I really want to have the USB-C port.

Don’t forget 4GB—>6GB RAM (previously, only the 1TB model already had 6GB), WiFi 6 and the price cuts.
The only thing “relatively minor” about the update was that the really, really fast A12X wasn’t replaced by a really, really, really fast A13X. In fact, it was a solid update.
A refresh isn’t all about an updated SoC, especially when the current one already screams.
As a workaround, another option would be to buy the 2018 iPad at a discounted price, and then buy the 2021 iPad a year or two from now. Apple's product release cycles have become an "all thing's being relative" subscription scenario at this point, so whatever works![]()
Used pricing doesn’t count.No it wasn't.
A used 2018, 256GB 11" WIFI, is now $650 the 2020 version is $900. You're paying $250 for 2GB of RAM, the lidar camera, and an extra graphics core knowing that the next version of the iPad will be the upgrade to get.
So if you need an ipad now, it doesn't make much sense to get the 2020 version vs a 2018 version. It is by far the smallest update apple has ever released with the iPad.
The 18 month refresh cycle is stupid (especially after the last one was such a minor upgrade). But a 6 month refresh seemed pretty unlikely.good. why release another ipad this year anyway and not keep the 18 months refresh cycle?
Sheesh....every other day it seems there is a contradictory headline about the next Apple product.

It does if you are keeping it longer. Not always possible to get deals like you see in the USNo it wasn't.

Why would you say “It is by far the smallest update apple has ever released with the iPad”? The only thing it doesn’t have is the slightly faster A13X you want instead of the A12Z it does have.No it wasn't.

I planned to purchase this years model but decided to hold off for the mini-led version.I am very glad for people who has just bought the 2020 iPad Pro and sad for people like me who was waiting for this model to update their existing 1st gen iPad Pro.
