If you’re an early user and regular user and have burned through two sets because of batteries, reverting to the bundled in wired headphones that used to come with iPhones and that still work fine could be the logical step.
I also use my phone and iPad with music apps and bluetooth audio simply doesn’t do it latency wise.

Maybe Apple will bring back the headphone jack and premium wired headphones and earbuds next in a totally courageous move. 😅

They won't. Just get a nice set of USB-C headphones.

I sure hope so, bring on the APP3. Had two pairs of APP1s until I lost my last one a few weeks ago. Now I'm clinging to earpods which have degraded in built quality (already had to glue together broken stems twice) - but fortubately, also in price. Interestingly, sound quality of the €19 earpods are not that far behind the APP1. But I miss the ANC.

Last time I checked, the APP2 were still €270 - no deals in sight over here - I don't want to pay that much for the 2s, when the 3s are around the corner.

Yeah yeah I know 🙄
I got the latest beats solo for their convenience, I can use them with normal headphone ports in my portable instruments, usb c for apple and, bluetooth when consuming media on any device.
would love to see a great earbud wired/wireless hybrid

I don't want all those EMF's hammering my ears and head (they are the worst in that department), plus they don't work with an older iPod or Mac. Wired all the way! If Apple made a wired set, including the Max version, I would buy. But no sale if only wireless.

I'm using the AirPods Pro since the beginning on daily basis and. The 1st version had an issue with the mics. After ~10 months the left earbud started to make crackling sounds and it it turned out that the adhesive on the microphones loosens after a while, causing the problem. It was a well known issue already and Apple replaced the earbud immidiately. Same happend with the other earbud a few months later and apple replaced that one too. That's what I call customer support!
I have been using Airpods Pro 2 (with Apple Care :p) daily since its release, and everything works flawlessly. I have tons of Apple devices, but this is the one I can't live without. So for me, the Airpods Pro3 will be an instant get whatever it will cost.

In Australia, I have seen a lot of people wearing Shokz over the past year, especially the OpenRun products. They are exciting, AirPods are stale. That said, I am dying to upgrade from my 1st Gen Pro's and am very keen to buy the 3rd Gen when they are released.

Apple should launch AirPods Pro in black along with white which can eventually boost sales. Also, why dont Apple introduce buyback for older versions Airpods.
A black finish might not be ideal, as it tends to visibly show skin oils and earwax buildup more than the white version. Like you see with the black version of the Magic Keyboard.

Having only the first edition of AirPods Pro, I realise that is the only Apple product line I'm following with intent to buy. I've been wondering about the APP2 but the prices did not come down as much in the UK.

[I'm otherwise content with iPhone 15Pro and the other stuff I list in my sig. Although occasionally lusting after the 15in M4 MBA, the s/h 13in M1 MBA (with its 16gb RAM) is good enough for travel purposes and the Watch 9 has most of the features.]

I’ve still got my OG AirPod Pro First Generation set which I use daily, the batteries have had it so I only get a bit under three hours, and am looking at an upgrade.

So for me, sure, I haven’t bought new AirPods Pro yet because the current ones actually lasted years.

If the AP3 comes in September it’ll be a potential choice for me next.

They don't last. One of the worst Apple products as far as longevity is concerned. Never again.
This. I replaced the battery by myself easily for my Sony XM3s. For $20. Got them in 2018 and still going strong. Unless Apple supports easy battery replacement there is no way I’ll get them. But if they do, I’ll buy immediately. I like the features they offer

I won't be buying AirPods again due to poor quality. They are just too unreliable. Apple setup a Repair Program due to known defects but has set unreasonable timeframes to claim. I have had two separate sets fails just outside of their timescales and on both occasions they wanted £79 to replace the earbuds - I have refused to replace. I have no confidence the other bud won't fail soon.

I have jumped to other brands and actually had a great experience so far at a fraction of the price.

Depends on how much you think you'd use the features you think the model that hasn't come out yet will have.
The current model didn't lose any of the functionality that made you ready to buy it, so if you can still get a good deal you might be better off with that. Especially if your plan is to only use them a couple years. By then the kinks for whatever new health stuff is coming should be worked out before the newest model when you're ready to replace them.

I just got some cheap noise cancelling TWS buds during a sale last week, but if I start to lose my hearing I'll be thinking about the hearing aid functionality in the Airpods Pro 2 and later, because they'll become a relative bargain. Hopefully they iterate on even more processing and perhaps more frequency bands in the meantime. Wouldn't hurt for them to also add an Android app for the hearing aid stuff at least.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. You’re right, I don’t really need any features beyond what the current model already offers. I’m mostly thinking about sound quality and the quality of the ANC; if the new model improves on those, I might feel a bit disappointed if it’s released soon after I buy the current one. On the other hand, the current model already has excellent sound quality and ANC, based on reviews. Those are the only things that really matter to me, along with the fit, of course. I assume that will stay the same. It also remains to be seen how I’ll get used to the Pro model, since I’ve always used the regular AirPods 2 up until now (I’m already on my second pair). The Pros are on my shopping list now because I’ll need good ANC going forward.

I find it really weird that it’s seen as a disaster if a product - and companies - doesn’t always grow & it’s seen as terrible.

It’s attitudes like that that fuel a belief that we must always consume and buy new things.

What’s wrong with having a sustainable business that has slow steady growth or that simply maintains stable sales?

And in Apple’s case - it’s not like people not buying new AirPods leads to job losses in the USA, is it (ok potentially in apple stores)?

Mann, the wired headphones sounds excellent with lossless capabilities. $19 for pair of wired headphones. Airpods Pro should be around $100 without a discount. $250 for new airpods pro sounds crazy.

I had 2 sets of the AirPods Pro 1 (1 set replaced due to the crackling noises) and didn’t think I needed to upgrade to the 2nd edition…until I bought a pair for both my mother-in-law and my wife and tried them myself. It was a night and day difference and improvement in sound and noise canceling. In fact, I had stopped using my 1’s other than for travel, but once again find myself wearing the Pro 2’s every day. The added battery life is another plus, making long days on calls easier to do. I’d say go for getting a pair, especially when they’re on sale in the $150-$160 range.

I'm not an audiophile so I can't see spending more than $100 on ear buds. There's so many good options for under $100 available. My go to choice these days are the Nothing Ear A I bought on sale for $89. Are the air pods "better" at sound and noise cancelling? Probably, but not enough for me to spend $250 or even $200 on them.

My almost 3 year old and extremely used AP2 are ready for replacement and if the 3s were out I would order them today. As it stands I am debating whether to consider Sony or Bose buds.

I am annoyed by the style of all of the reviews that I find when I research other options. Typically they review the Bose and Sony well, but the focus really seems to be "Best for iPhone users" and "Best for Galaxy users", neither of which I want to know. I want to know if he Bose or Sony buds are better than the Apple ones or not. It is not like one can just go test these devices.
