My AirPods Pro 2 would be around 3 years old by the time the next iteration is released, so it's pretty much an auto-buy for me. It's shocking how quick the OG AirPods have made me "allergic" to the feel of wires around my neck. I have a set of wired earbuds that is used exclusively for zoom / teams meetings, and that's pretty much it. AirPods are really the goldilocks wireless earbuds for me with how convenient they are, and how well they integrate with the apple ecosystem.

Will this finally be the year I migrate over to pure usb-c? 😛

I have first gen Airpod Pro's and the music sound quality is just ok. I'll probably be buying a new pair in the next year or two considering mine are five years old, but I have really been looking into other brands. For the same music sound quality I could pay much less money, and for the same price I keep reading that I can get much much much better music sound quality. I literally only use my ear buds for listening to music and don't care about any other features so I will be curious to see if Apple can improve the music sound quality of the Airpod Pro 3's to equal that of the Sony's, Sennheiser's, etc.

I'm also considering getting a good pair of wired earbuds which would save me a lot of money and give me what I want. I still have and use at times about a 10 year old, $30, set of Sony wired earbuds that have better music quality that my Airpod Pro's.

Consumers are quickly learning that there are better and cheaper alternatives. I see this as a win since it should drive down the price of Airpods (it won't, Apple's greedy).
The AirPods Pro 2 have been on the market for a few years now. It’s something most people only buy once. Sales aren’t flat because consumers are moving to other headphones. Sales are flat because most people who want them have them already.

If you’re an early user and regular user and have burned through two sets because of batteries, reverting to the bundled in wired headphones that used to come with iPhones and that still work fine could be the logical step.
I also use my phone and iPad with music apps and bluetooth audio simply doesn’t do it latency wise.

Maybe Apple will bring back the headphone jack and premium wired headphones and earbuds next in a totally courageous move. 😅
I got my pro 2 at launch as well as bought a pair for my partner. Neither of us have experienced battery issues. I even still have the original pros that I use with my Switch.

I have had my Pro 1 for five years. The batteries in the ear buds are still very good, but the battery in the case is pretty bad now. I can't complain, five years is a pretty good run.

I don't want all those EMF's hammering my ears and head (they are the worst in that department), plus they don't work with an older iPod or Mac. Wired all the way! If Apple made a wired set, including the Max version, I would buy. But no sale if only wireless.
I heard if you wear tinfoil on your head it will help with those EMFs

I had 2 sets of the AirPods Pro 1 (1 set replaced due to the crackling noises) and didn’t think I needed to upgrade to the 2nd edition…until I bought a pair for both my mother-in-law and my wife and tried them myself. It was a night and day difference and improvement in sound and noise canceling. In fact, I had stopped using my 1’s other than for travel, but once again find myself wearing the Pro 2’s every day. The added battery life is another plus, making long days on calls easier to do. I’d say go for getting a pair, especially when they’re on sale in the $150-$160 range.
Thanks for the comments, but as I said, these sale prices for the Pro 2 are not available in the UK. I was stung with one sale of a fake on from Amazon - although I did get a refund.

They don't last. One of the worst Apple products as far as longevity is concerned. Never again.
Agree with this. I had launch day original AirPods. The battery was almost completely unusable by the time AirPods Pro were released. I got launch day ones of those too, and the battery was dead in a couple of years. There was also apparent tinkering to the noise cancelling in that original model that got on my nerves. When the AirPods Pro died I bought something less than half the price that are still going well and don’t sound much different.

If health features are the only main addition to these headphones I won’t be very interested in upgrading.

These are the most ill-fitting earphones I've ever owned, and Status audio earphones kick the living crap out of these for sound quality at $149 on sale. And they even fit better. Less bells and whistles, but isn't the sound the most important thing?

The constant consumerism is sickening tbh. I hate that everything has to be about sales numbers. 🤢
Apple is a for profit publicly traded company. Sakes is one of the most important metric for them. It’s just reality of things. AirPods isn’t even a device people replace frequently unless they lose them.

AirPods generate over $10 billion in sales. In a world not driven by endless growth people would be happy with that. Unfortunately Wall Street demands growth at all costs.

One of my current Jabra earbuds have muffled audio now. It goes away for some time, comes back and repeats. So I'm in the market for new earbuds.

I'd consider the AirPods Pro but I've had a superficial reason that kept me away: I don't like the white color. Many of Apple's other products come in different colors. I wonder why the AirPods don't.

If you think about it, the AirPods Max are the only Apple headphones to come in other colors. Going way back to the original iPod headphones, or even the iPhone 2G BT earpiece, they have always been white. White headphones are iconic to Apple, which is why so many copycats are also white.
