Not until Apple enters that business …
Come on, I should have put a /s into my post … it was a joke.
Bezos and Branson are definitely men in midlife crisis when I look at that project and Stunt they pulled off…

but back on subject, a different viewpoint is that none of the traditional automakers wanted to team up with Apple…

Why should they want to team up with apple?

These are the same hurdles all car manufacturers face. Are you saying because phones have issues and apple makes phones that their cars will have issues more so than what other car manufacturers face?
Just because they're the same issues faced by all manufacturers doesn't make them insignificant; clearly, Apple understands the challenges and hurdles and, given their history, is most likely prepared for a significant effort. The fact they don't have a car yet despite years of rumors tends to substantiate the challenges.

Even that estimate is insane, they'd have to design, build, develop the software and so forth. Then they have to test the car, for some time. Then even getting it on the road would take several years as well.
They’ve been working on a car since 2014/13. I think the reported in 2016 and Apple switched to working exclusively on self-driving software was a lie. I think they never stopped working on car hardware.

Building cars is hard. They have to be reliable and safe. Selling them with US states prohibiting company owned dealerships creates difficulties. I am surprised Apple is trying to get into this business as it is far removed from their core computing/UI focus. I hope they have figured it out as I would be interested.

EVs have many fewer moving parts compared to an ICE vehicle but the mechanical and electrical engineering still required in an EV is massive
Yea I assume building cars are hard but when you have 195b in the bank it actually is pretty simple lol, I think you've underestimated Apple's connection network as well as their forward expansion into different sectors coming the following years, sure their current business model of selling the same products year after year has proven to be highly profitable and successful but there's nothing new anymore, innovation died with jobs and where I think Tim excels and shines is his ability to improve and further integrate existing products ex: apple watch and its features imo, but getting back to the point, Bezo's even stated something similar "to become the best in a sector with no knowledge and experience, you hire the best people who are in that field". look where it's today. With the hoard of cash they have in the bank they can hire whoever they want as they've been doing with F/TSLA executives going in and out between companies plus with their brand image being universally known, most of these car companies would be more than happy to help take Apple's first ev car public, hench the "network connections". They have already partnered with GS for the Apple Card, GS is king if you did not know, their bundled subscription package, huge push upcoming towards the healthcare industry helping further integrate software with their watch to point where doctors can manage patients data just by wearing it, "part of the push into health care that Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, has declared will constitute the company's greatest contribution to mankind. This story also ran on Protocol". Also 5G rollout, possible new streaming services possibly competing with Netflix & them, Apple probably has much more products brewing in the pipeline going towards the future. Like other big cap companies this year, Apple has realized they need to expedite growth by entering new sectors where market share is available by buying out competitors or companies.
Just joking but have you been living under a rock? hahaha jk Cheers bud!
