Apple’s leadership has clearly nosedived in the last 5-6 years. Once thought to be ridiculous ideas like these are becoming the norm. Apple is set to alienate a lot of original users that bought into the version of Apple that genuinely thought differently. This version of Apple is looking more and more like every other sleazy tech company, and just like the rest, they too now have garbage software quality and a lousy overall experience. It’s a sad state of affairs, and it will no doubt remain that way without product people at the top.

Tim Cook is a lost man without a compass.

I have been saying this for years and it is not just with services but with hardware, form factors etc...

If it helps subsidise the shows for regular subscribers, then sure why not. The extra money could mean the difference between See one day not getting renewed, or For All Mankind. And it could help fund buying the distribution rights to new movies, movies with a bit more merit than what Hollywood is pumping out.

Based on what? M series chips are an example of nosediving? Most popular smartwatch on earth is an example of nosediving? The anti Apple sentiment here is overwhelming and basically, silly.

Touch Screen Macs, MacOS on an iPad, A Mac 2 in 1, an iMac like the Surface Studio? These are not silly things my friend

With respect, I didn’t say they were. I said the anti Apple sentiment on here is silly.

I have no use for any of those things. In a nutshell, those things are 'not for me'. I use my iPad as a quasi Cintiq tablet with my Mac, or universal control. I’d rather have the almost magical way the devices work together than have a fingerprint laden monitor. Copying from one or dragging a photo from one device to another instantly. Windows & Android can’t touch the way Apple has managed that. It’s taken them quite a while to nail it, but I would never suggest they have nosedived, just because I few people want a Windows computer with the build quality of a Mac.

I don't like all these streaming companies doing a bait and switch with adding adds to existing tiers and then charging even more to get rid of them again.

Adding a new ad-supported plan while keeping an ad-free plan (even if it's a higher price) is not bait and switch. It’s not unusual for companies to raise prices (assuming that is what will happen here) and Apple hasn’t raised the price of Apple TV+ since in launched in 2019. It is arguably due for a price increase anyway given increases seen from other streaming services like Disney+ and Netflix.

Also, not all companies add ad-supported plan for the same price as their ad-free plan had been e.g., when HBO Max added an ad-supported plan, they kept the price of ad-free at $14.99. The new ad-supported plan was $5 cheaper at $9.99.

U.S. Inflation = 8.5%
U.K. Inflation = 9.9%
Australia Inflation = 6.2%

I think we’re doing pretty well with Apple prices. In fact, with Apple not increasing prices, inflation is reduced. Good on you Apple! We love you for it ❤️😂

Steve also introduced OS X which was beautiful to look at, but worked worse than 💩.
The original 10.0 release should have kept the “Beta” label for another six months until 10.1 was ready. Even 10.1 wasn’t great, but it was better than 10.0…and it actually had DVD playback support. I stuck with Mac OS 9 and didn’t switch to using OS X as my primary system until much later.

Speaking of “not everything Steve did was perfect”, remember the crass cross-branding Apple did with the HP iPod? Imagine the outrage if Tim made a deal to stick some other company’s logo on the back of the iPhone.

The thing I don't like is the stuff is either kids or super mature. Is there anything live PG or PG13? I mean I like peanuts and Fraggle Rock and Luck, but why can't they have any comedy series not riddled with MA content?
That's why it's not appealing to me because there's no back catalog of any kind.

Like lately I've had fun watching old Law & Order episodes on Prime Video. Yeah i've seen them before, but I enjoy doing that once in a while without having to download it "elsewhere", which I certainly can.

Can't do that on ATV+.

Meanwhile most users of the latest MacBook Pro agree it’s the most functional design that they’ve had in over a decade, the new colorful iMac returns to what made the original so great with a modern premium twist, the Apple Watch has been praised for its design, the AirPods Max are some of the best looking headphones on the market, the iPhone looks… like a phone, the new need I go on?
