Aipods 3, this year? That'll be a big nope.

The current AirPods can barely last 5 hours on a charge. How would that even be possible with noise cancellation?

Make the stem/battery twice as long?

They'll last 2 & 1/2 hours on a charge with noise cancelling on, 5 without.

I can’t see 2 release within the same year. I would think it would come out next year instead.

My question is why do they need noise cancellation in the first place? Pods were never about noise cancellation. I personally prefer to hear what’s going on around me while walking down the street so I don’t get run over by someone. Too many idiots out there glued to their phones not paying attention, add noise cancelling headphones = zombie.
I totally agree with you. NC is fine in situation such as traveling on a plane. It is a safety issue when people are out and about and can’t hear what is around them. I guess safety takes a back seat.

active noise cancellation can be deactivated. I'd like to have it for an airplane, the current airpods do not isolate well enough and are too quiet.

I see your point and not sure if others would turn NC off. My teen has the Airpods and uses it a lot and can’t hear us until we have to raise our voice so imagine with NC on. There are some people who have earbuds, no necessarily with AP, who can’t hear you when you try to pass through and they can’t hear you say excuse me.

Isn’t it more likely that Apple is releasing a new product in the AirPod family but not the same form factor? I’m no marketing guru so I won’t guess at a name but AirPods could continue to sell as one product and then an in-ear type solution could also be sold? (As well as the also rumored over the ear headphones)?

Noise cancelation is overrated. The only time I'd want it is if I'm on a plane or very loud metro, but to walk around the city with such headphones one must be a complete moron.
THANK YOU! I completely agree. Why would I want to go anywhere and not be able to pay attention to the world around me? I love my airpods 2. Now if it is active noise cancellation that I can disable then that is the best of both worlds. Really airpods are the only earbuds out there that don't try to shut out the outside world.

Try using other earbuds at lower volumes.
I have found that still doesn't work for me. Still, I have quite a bit of hearing loss in one ear, so that might be contributing. That said, there is no need to try now. My airpods work fine. :)

No. Sealing helps, because you get a good deal of noise cancellation before you even start using electronics. But then the speakers emit sound that exactly counteracts whatever noise gets through the sealing. That works without sealing as well, but may need more power, work not quite as well and so on. But in principle, you don't need sealing.

Maybe it's only noise reduction, not noise cancellation.

You mean Noise Isolation.
Noise cancelling headphones utilise both noise isolation (seal - in ear or over ear) and noise cancellation (microphones etc).
You do need both for it to be effective.

However if I recall correctly, I remember reading an article that said the noise cancelling/reduction function on the new AirPods is only for phone calls. Apparently it will reduce the noise, as you stated, so that you can hear the person you're speaking to much clearer. But how they'll work for cancelling noise for when you're on a plane for example, that is yet to be revealed.

I genuinely didn't know it was possible to have noise-cancelling headphones with the airpod/bud style because I thought the large padding of on-ear headphones helps block the sound. If they work, they could be amazing.

I think AirPods 2 were probably supposed to come out last year, but when they finally gave up on AirPower they decided to just release them. If the new ones aren't selling as highly as the original, they might just stick to what was probably their original plan to launch the redesign this holiday season. I bought the 2nd gen but only because my wife kept using my AirPods so I let her keep them, lol. But the battery on it is getting kinda bad so my current ones would be great for her and then I can get these new ones that hopefully stay in my ears well without needing dermal tape.

A feature I'd like to see before they add anything else is an improvement in how they stay in your ear when you're lying down reading in bed. They can add all the features they like, but until they solve that I just can't buy any.

I would sit on these until early next year, just so that you can say you launched new headphones in 2020 and focus this year on the PowerBeats Pro and new AirPods.

Lmao same. I got iPad 3 on release day and was fuming when the iPad 4 came out. I went over 7 years before buying an iPad again because I was still chapped.

I'm sure if I was in your position I'd feel the same with iPad 3, but I have had both versions of Airpods and I'll likely buy these ones too. I wear them into the ground, minimum 3 hours a day as I'm barely off my phone in work for calls. Slightly more "disposable" money for Airpods than an iPad!!

I guess I could clean them all up and handmedown to my partner.

Most use cases for headphones do not involve city walking. And noise canceling can be disabled. So I think it is rated just right.

Remember when they launched iPad 3 and iPad 4 in the same year? Could happen for Airpods 3. It would be extremely frustrating for some and hilarious for others at the same time if that was to happen.

Since my Adorama order for the 1.5's still hasn't shipped, I might just cancel and play the waiting game. Even if it doesn't release till next year, I'd be pretty pissed at myself if they in fact release this year

Will be interesting to see what solution they come up with. Sony probably have the smallest ones, but they don't last very long:

Or you have Bose which are a lot bigger (and more expensive), but have better Battery life:

Had the Bose Qc30 and they are the most comfortable in ear with best noise cancelling. I would still own if the rubber on neck band didn't come apart but this is a known issue that will eventually happen to everyone. Poor design.

Currently own the WX1000X as they are the next best noise cancelling ear buds and reasonably comfortable. Battery life is poor though.

Combine these two and you've got a winner.

Buy what you need today or your gonna be waiting and waiting.
[doublepost=1556130921][/doublepost]"I don't need noise cancelling so Apple shouldn't make them" Or "I don't need mouse support on an ipad so Apple shouldn't implement it. "

What's happening on this forum?
[doublepost=1556131050][/doublepost]
Its not gonna happen 2020 at least
Why? Airpods pro right before the Christmas buying season.

I did buy AirPods 2 and gave my old ones to my wife. I've been on an Apple binge lately but it took many years to get over the resentment of spending nearly 1k on an iPad only to have the shortest life cycle of any iPad (maybe of any Apple device ever).
