Was it a problem to fix or to code before when screen went from 3.5" to 4"? I guess not. Developers have to do some works to make $$$ including changing codes to fit new screen sizes. You see how many screen sizes Android devices have, 10?

I don't want to be forced to pay extra $100 for 32GB. Leave me 16GB at $199 and I'll decide if I want 32GB.

4.7" 16GB at $199 subsidized and 5.5" 16GB at $299 subsidized work for most people. Why change to 32GB and up $100?
the why? Logistics and SKUs to stock and manage. Its a huge cost.

Im with you. It *should* be 4.7" 32GB for $199/$649.

The base phone has been 16GB way too long.

*crossingfingers*. Just rumors are discouraging

By being late (well, late is relative) to market on a larger-format phone, they have the advantage of seeing what worked and what didn't work. Clearly there's a big market for a 5.5" phone, as well as a 4.7-5" phone. I really do think Apple will get it right.

Yes they are late and you could say very late, but i don't think Apple are bothered by time. They like to perfect something and for the technology to be there. This is where Sapphire displays could come in.

can we ban the word "phablet" on here? it sounds terrible and makes me cringe. phone or tablet. choose one, there is no hybrid.

Its a hybrid device, like Spork.
Its valid.

A phone near the size of a tablet. And some people think they are phabulous! It works :)

... and a 6-inch iPhone will soon follow...

Not anytime soon, but it must happen..... Otherwise Apple will fall behind everyone else.

In fact, Apple is just like everyone else now.... Big massive phones...

Gone are the days of the 3.5 inch small iPhones..

Unfortunate because that will be the next evo when the large thing is passed. Thin credit card sized phone you keep in your wallet. It'll be all the rage.

Am I wrong?

I can't be the only one who remembers the comedy skit 3CP1 on SCTV.
All the Russian electronics (Mics, Camers, Etc) were HUGE! It was a joke!

Just the thought of an even larger iphone following the 4.7 model may cause people to wait. I know I will.

Went from the 5S to a 5.2 inch in a minimum form. I don't want to go backwards to a 4.7 in an outdated, large bezel form. I hope they figure out how to make a 5.5 with minimum bezel space. Other manufacturers will be doing it.

Is the source of this rumour of an August release actually credible? Apple usually have done this in September, don't forget IOS8 would need to be ready also. I would love for there to be a August release date, but I doubt it actually will.

Could be. People are fickle, and styles can change.

I still remember how everyone was expecting an "iPhone mini" a few years back... before competitors made larger displays popular... because smaller and thinner had been a phone trend for a while.

Loved the skit, "What fits into Russia" !

Poor Australia. Poor Texas.

In my humble opinion, the iPhone 6 will be unveil according to this schedule:

1. iOS 8.0 beta rolls out to developers at WWDC on June 2, 2014. It will include a new feature: resolution independence, so iOS can now accommodate everything from the iPhone 5S/5C all the way to 12" for the rumored 12" iPad.

2. The 4.7" iPhone 6 is unveiled on September 3, 2014, and the iPhone 5C is updated with a new model that uses iPhone 5S internals, including the Touch ID sensor. The new iPhone 5C starts sales on September 5, 2014, since it does not need a new version of iOS to take full advantage of its features. iPhone 6 sales start September 19, 2014.

3. The 5.5" iPhone 6 is unveiled on October 8, 2014, along with the updated iPad and iPad mini models. Sales of the new iPhone 6 start mid-November 2014.

No sane company...
So that puts the earliest practical day for an iPhone announcement event at Sep 9 or 10. Going on recent history, that would put an iPhone launch at Sep 19, again at the earliest, and far far away from August.
I think Apple is a very sane company and still they managed to release the first four iphones even before august (June, 29; July, 11; June, 19; June 24).
The thing is that no matter what the exact date will be, there will be massive attention to the release.

This. I am still hoping 5.5 never happens at all.
Seriously? Sounds a BIT selfish with so many people here looking forward to that sized iphone....then again, looking even the slightest bit beyond ones own wants and needs may pose the serious risk of making one a decend human being...

I agree with you, i'm looking forward too and hoping so much *fingers crossed* that there is a 5.5" iPhone 6. Now i know some people would simply tell me to go get a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 or something, but what puts me off is Android and Samsung. So Apple doing a 5.5" or even if they did a 5" would be brilliant, i want that option :D

Yes before August, not in August. June is nowhere near August and July 11 is closer to June than August too. Apple is a sane company, correct. Which is why the next iPhone (a historic release if it's really 4.7") won't be in August. Unless we get a surprise announcement at WWDC (unlikely IMHO) it will be released on normal sched in Sep, probably Sep 19.

Soon there will probably be an iPhablet.
MAybe we should call it iPhad ?:D

I get your point, but the point I was trying to make was that we never realy know what apple may do and that if any company can pull of unlikely stuff, it currently is apple.
