No hints of this in the code. Or at least no one has found anything suggesting this so far in the developer pre release. No API, no settings, etc.

I don't think anything alluding to features not yet revealed is supposed to be present in the SDKs, but because of the sheer volume of materials that Apple has to release when they have hundreds of new APIs, they inevitably let a few hints slip out.

To help hedge against that, they make everyone receiving the beta SDK sign an NDA before being allowed to see it.

Anyways... this could be a cool feature, if done properly. I see various comments mentioning that previous phones have done it and then removed it in later models. Same thing happened with touch screens before the iPhone though, it was just that Apple was the first one to tune it to perfection, so maybe that'll happen with Haptic feedback, too. Or maybe without the guidance of Steve Jobs saying "No" hundreds of times, Apple is just throwing gimmicks in. We shall see.

The list of rumored features for this thing is getting ridiculous...

Larger screen, two sizes, sapphire, optical image stabilization, NFC, longer battery life, higher resolution, 802.11ac, better Touch ID, A8 processor/graphics and coprocessor, temperature sensors, humidity sensors, a barometer, and now haptic feedback. All in the thinnest casing ever.

It can't possibly all be true. Reminds me of the iPhone 5 rumors when everyone thought it would be an impossibly thin teardrop with NFC and so on.

I'm not sure why people bring up the teardrop shape when there were no leaked parts to back that up.... Every iPhone has PHSYICALLY leaked. The 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, 5, 5S and 5C all leaked. And so has the 4.7" iPhone.

Those features aren't far fetched. There's no point for the phone to have 802.11ac. We know it'll have a higher resolution (maybe even a higher pixel density), obviously it'll have a better processor and (slightly) better battery life.

The health sensors and haptic feedback might not be true though or they'll be in the larger iPhone only.

On the bright side-eventually some if these rumours will be true.

Maybe in a couple of years?

:D

The 4S and CDMA iPhone 4 have a soft vibrate because of the type of vibrate motor used. All other iPhones have the same barrel type vibrate motor. It's often been noted by people doing comparisons between different iPhone models that the iPhone 3G and 3GS have the most powerful and loudest vibrate.

I've had every iPhone model except the 4S and 5C, and I've got to say my trusty old 2G has had the loudest and most intense vibrate.

I have a feeling you are going to be sorely disappointed.

Invariably, the laundry list of rumored iPhone features & improvement never happen all with one release. From the first iPhone revision onward Apple has included two or three changes. It's always evolutionary, not revolutionary because Apple wants to sell you the next iPhone too, not to mention an engineering challenge.

4.7" screen, yes.
Improved Touch ID, a must.
NFC, maybe.
A8 proc., obviously

Everything else, pick one.
I guess it's a matter of perception. For me 4.7 inch, A8 processor and iOS 8 equals a badass phone. So I seriously doubt tens of millions of the people are going to be disappointed.

To be honest I'm not too bothered about these kind of features, as long as I can choose from 4.7" and a 5.5" iPhone I will be happy, anything else is a bonus, altho I would like the saphire screen to make the phone more durable.

True, they need to save some of these features for the iPhone 6s.

Surprised it didn't already have it. I've turned mine off a few times when in power saving mode but it just doesn't "feel right" without having a little vibration whenever I press the screen

Yes, I agree. I only upgrade every two years and the upgrade phone has always been wildly better than my last iPhone, which itself was still very good. But some people expect Apple to pack in a swiss army knife, and that's an unreasonable expectation.

I like haptic feedback, I hope the phone gets it. I appreciated it on my Nexus 4.

I really like this render of the 6. Looks much better without that thick band.

Phone looks great in the renders. Nearly as good as the guy with a piece of sticky tape wrapped around his wrist for the iwatch.

Size isn't everything...

With all the hubbub about the 4.7" and 5.5" models, is the rumour mill quite sure that Apple are dropping the 4" model? There's still a lot to be said for the 4" in terms of portability and use with one hand...

It would be more impressive if there wasn't alread another phone with with most of these features already but definitely nice to see apple catch up.

Funny how there are never copy cat comments in this forum when Apple comes out with similar features already on other smartphones.

Not that I care I love that they keep copying each other and making smartphones as a whole better. As a consumer I can't loose. :)

I always disabled it on Android. I don't think it affects battery life but I found it annoying. Maybe Apple will innovate it somehow though.

There was an article a few weeks ago saying the 5.5" model will have OIS because it costs a few dollars more. I hope that isn't also the case for the haptic feedback module as well since it costs more. Will the 5.5" model end up being the premium test bed for incorporating new technology into the main iPhone line? Such as that article saying it would have 128GB of storage? If the 5.5" model also gets a payment system and the 4.7" one doesn't I might honestly scream. Now I'm hoping that the 5.5" model doesn't even exist so that we can get all of this in the smaller package. It would be pretty lame if the biggest difference between my iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 is bigger screen and Touch ID. I've never said to myself "I wish my iPhone 5 was even faster," except maybe when it comes to taking photos.

Is that the thing the Galaxies have when you push the buttons? I'd rather not, ok if some people want it, just allow for the user to turn it off, it's aweful.

Yes I think haptic feedback can be nice in keyboard use, but why has no one mentioned gaming?

I think it's one of the best features in mobile gaming.

No hints of this in the code. Or at least no one has found anything suggesting this so far in the developer pre release. No API, no settings, etc. I am therefore thinking this is not a reality yet. Personally even if it was I am not so sure about it. I had an android for a bit that had so,etching like this and I was not a big fan. Just my thought of course.

Well, Touch ID was first hinted in iOS 7 beta 4, so I guess there's still time :D

Also, Apple could in theory just launch the API's with the GM of iOS 8. The good thing with iPhone/iPad is that developers are incredibly fast to implement the new features. Like when the iPhone 5 was introduced with the taller screen, most apps were updated to take advantage of the screen within a few weeks.

So it could still happen.

I fail to see how vibrations make things more pleasing or in any way make for a more impressive user experience. Have you recently seen a movie and sat in one of those haptic feedback FX chairs? It gets annoying very quickly.

Not sure how they do things where you live, but I usually don't interact with phones via my buttcheeks.

This would be amazing! I imagine something that could allow you to feel where your typing input goes!
