No issues in having a visual change but really hope that along with it, the functionality will improve. Maybe the new design will fit better for the upcoming devices, but the current glow around the sreen when activating Siri/Apple Intelligence is good too.

I think in two years it will get an even newer release 😂 and in three years it will get even more amazing newer update and I bet a new icon!!!

It is well known by now that Apple plans to launch its more personalized version of Siri next year, but apparently the company has even bigger plans.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman on Wednesday reported that Apple is preparing a "visually redesigned" version of Siri that will debut on the iPhone and iPad "as early as next year." However, he did not provide any specific details about the new design.

Gurman said that Apple is planning a tabletop robot for release in 2027. On that device, he said that Apple has tested making Siri look like an animated version of the Mac's Finder logo, but he said the company was also considering ideas that look more like Memoji. It is unclear if Siri would get a life-like avatar on the iPhone and iPad too.

Apple already redesigned Siri last year, but only on iPhone and iPad models that support Apple Intelligence. On those devices, a colorful glow appears around the edges of the screen when Siri is invoked. On older iPhone and iPad models, Siri has an older design, with a circular icon popping up at the bottom of the screen when it is invoked.

It seems like Siri will be getting a lot better next year, with Gurman having previously said that iPhone and iPad users will be able to take action within apps entirely with voice commands. The upgrade is expected to arrive with iOS 26.4.

"With nothing but your voice, you'll be able to tell Siri to find a specific photo, edit it and send it off," he wrote. "Or comment on an Instagram post. Or scroll a shopping app and add something to your cart. Or log in to a service without touching the screen."

A visual overhaul would be fitting for such big changes.

Now, maybe a perfect opportunity for Folks as School has started back up pull the old Walter Isaacson‘s jobs book off the shelf and take another read of it. It’s pretty interesting in the same age when Apple TV sucks although they had cracked the code on how to bridge the gap on all the wire cutters or whatever you wanna call them nowadays, cable cutters, and he had this new thing that was coming. I was gonna change everything and it never materialized cause Steve died. The whole book doesn’t really plan out like it did when I read it in 2011.

No redesign necessary -- just make it functional at long last. I use Siri to set timers and alarms. Anything beyond that, and it's useless.

[edit] One, that's not a really constructive comment. Although I do think it's lipstick on a pig and it sure as heck stinks.

Really? Can't the slowly show us that Siri is working better and better, and only then come up with 'redesigns'?
Well, Apple hasn't shown you ANY redesign since the last one, certainly not the one that's being discussed in the article, and they're currently working on releasing a Siri that works as it should. And they haven't released it yet. So....what is your comment?

I remember this well but I honestly think Steve was just talking about the touchpad remote + Siri which came out a few years after he died. He was specifically talking about the interface with Apple TV.

I'm fine as long as the Siri Avatar doesn't look (or act) like "PAL" in "The Mitchells vs the Machines" on Netflix! (good movie if you haven't seen it already).
I don't need to look at the face of an Avatar to make a request; I just need to be able to ask it a question in natural human language and expect a reasonable answer (as if I was talking to a human).
I assume all the peeps at Apple who could have pulled this off have been poached by Meta or other AI shops...

At this point, an entirely new name and system is needed for Apple to have any credibility with voice assistants.
