You don't need to incapacitate the owner. 2 strong males can bypass Touch ID.
What about 2 strong females?

Blast, all those unconscious and sleeping people with no fingers better watch out.
does touch ID still work if the person is dead? cold fingers, etc

It is NOT less secure. It is on par. its the whole point. FaceID is not more secure than TouchID.ok. how is this any less secure than TouchID?
Roger Waters is that you? That's why I always wear sunglasses when I sleep... Everybody thinks I'm awake and just unengaged with the world. No one can break THAT fortress of security!

You guys really aren’t arguing about which method is more secure based on knocking someone out or cutting off their fingers?it's not. chances of you scanning a sleeping person's finger is higher than putting on glasses on a sleeping person.

Yeah, that's the nature of the technology. It also depends how you hold it, and in what conditions. The XS was better than the X for me, but I still don't care much for it. My iPad Pro 3rd gen seems to be better than the XS, as it can detect in either orientation and from seemingly further away. However, it's often annoying because when I'm holding my iPad to unlock it or to open my banking apps or buy something online, my finger is covering the sensor more often than not. I wish it had multiple sensors, but better under -display Touch ID would be the easier fix.Clearly there are different stories for biometrics. Face ID works very well for me, as did Touch ID. My wife could never get Touch ID to work, but face id works flawlessly for her.
No I’m saying while it’s a probabilistic scenario to get into an unconscious persons phone through face id(either by use of chemicals, force or any other means) it’s just as probabilistic to get into the phone using Touch ID also by use of the same force or chemicals. And you guys are arguing in that scenario which biometric method is more secure.so you’re saying the article suggests that the weakness of Face ID is putting on tape and glasses while the user is conscious?

No because it’s possible none of the fingers are registered. Understand now?except in that scenario, touch id is easier to bypass because no external accessories are needed to unlock with the finger while the Face ID requires tape and glasses which could be troublesome if you’re trying to unlock before someone sees you working on an unconscious person.
do you get the argument now?![]()

So back to how many angels can fit in the head of a pin? Make up a ridiculous scenario and see if it holds water. All you’ve proven is how the imagination can make up these scenarios. It's possible a face wasn't registered either. My point still stands.
Welcome to the Face ID vs Touch ID argument btw (that thing you couldn't believe two people were arguing about).

There was an entire hoopla surrounding Touch ID and cut-off fingers, which never materialized. The one incident I can remember is one of the sleeping mom. This “method” with Face ID will be the same tempest in a teapot.Yet, you participated in the argument by arguing that it's possible "none of the fingers are registered". Imagine that.
Feel free to reply, but it sounds like you're trying to reach onto something frivolous so I'm not going to read anymore from you. Bye
of course it is. you dont have to put on the glasses (its not a beauty contest..), you can just hold them in front of the sleeping victims face. So you dont even have to touch the victim, where as you have to touch them with touchid..it's not. chances of you scanning a sleeping person's finger is higher than putting on glasses on a sleeping person.
Haha! The answer is no it doesn't. An article covered this some years ago. There is an episode of Punisher (Netflix) where Frank kills a guy after chopping his finger, and takes the finger puts it in his pocket and uses TID to access a phone. Not sure if that answers your question, but I feel like it kinda does lol
Yes Face ID is one in a million a random person can unlock it with their face while Touch ID is one in 50.000 a random person can unlock it with their finger. So Face ID is 20 times as secure as Touch ID.It is NOT less secure. It is on par. its the whole point. FaceID is not more secure than TouchID.
wrong. you need the attention of the victims face. try closing your eyes and try to unlock with faceid. it wont work unless you manually disabled attention awareness in settings (it's on by default)you can just hold them in front of the sleeping victims face. So you dont even have to touch the victim, where as you have to touch them with touchid..
