Its very annoying as we wont have a lot of time to work it out on pre order day.

I have another option in that I can meet my dad if I get the watch delivered to his house. He lives about 50 miles away from the conference so he can meet me half way. Just need to rely on them billing me and shipping it to him

It's the same every product launch. Everyone gets all worked up as they don't know how its going to work. At least this time they actually said 8:01am which is an improvement from before.

I'm still convinced I'll be reserving mine on Friday for in-store pickup on the 24th.

I'm hoping to do this too.

There are rumors that UK will not have in-store pickup at all.

Rumours? No. It's just on the US site it says you can pre-order AND reserve, on all other sites, you can just pre-order.

We should know soon if we can reserve or not in the UK. Wait for Apple's confirmation.

So if it turns out that we can reserve for in store pick up in the UK then at what point in the ordering process will we be able to define which store?

Purchase and pickup won't be available for sure.
What is uncertain is when reserve and pickup will be available: if at prelaunch (10th) or at launch (24th).
That is a totally different procedure, not related to the real Apple Store online. Last year it was available through a separate URL which allowed to reserve a unit and purchase it in store at a given day/time.

Just been to the Glasgow store and they werent really able to clear it up. At one point the guy said 'reserve and collect' should be available on April 10th. The Try-on appointments can be booked from Friday onwards, here you can narrow down to 2 or 3 you want and order straight away. No details about picking up.

I guess we have to wait until Friday to see whats happening.

Im still confused :(

Can you just walk into an Apple Store on the 24th in the UK and if its in stock buy one? or will they say no and i have to have an appointment to try it?

I want an Apple Watch but i want to see it in the flesh before i decide which size and type so going this Saturday to an Apple Store to view them on display, then its just a case of waiting for release and giving them money but i have no idea how.

Yup. Just select that store and the timeslot you want to reserve when you make the pre-order. You might need to be quick though as the timeslots are limited, however 7-8pm should be easier to get than first thing in the morning.

Completely false.

Apple are not selling any watches on the 24th to walk-ins so what else would the staff be doing on that day? Not having reservation pick-ups on the 24th makes absolutely no sense.
^ This.

I think the safest bet is to preorder online for home/work delivery. That way you avoid all the hassles related to going to a store to pick it up and the likely hood is that initial preorders will be delivered on the 24th anyway. That's what my plan is. I will be happy with that. That said if by chance they do offer in store pickup for the 24th for an online order here in the UK I might be tempted to do that. The only problem with that is if they give a specific collection time for the 24th it's likely I won't be able to make it as I'm working on that day.
