Hi!

I'm preparing an iMac late 2013 for sale and want to make sure I've deleted everything. I'm not very familiar with Mac at all. This iMac has been used with an appleID and was populated with iCloud files (and probably some local ones too?).

I followed this guide from Apple on how to prepare a Mac for sale (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201065). At step 3 it wouldn't log out of iTunes. I clicked the 'sign out' button, but it got stuck on the 'spinning wheel' icon and nothing happened. I eventually skipped that step and moved onto step 6 and 7 (erase and reinstall). I was surprised by how quickly these steps completed.

It seems to have erased the files and there is no automatic suggestion on apple id when I open iTunes. But how can I verify that all data and log in info has been removed? Is there a way to check certain registries or anything like that on Mac?

Thanks, any input is highly appreciated 🙂

Do a PRAM reset to verify if any firmware password exist.
I once purchased an iMac 2011 with firmware password.
It costed me 50$ to remove that. It was a very frustrating experience.

IIRC the 2011s and prior had a bug where if you removed the RAM sticks, tried booting, then re-inserted them, you could bypass the firmware password

Dream on, my man.
Those things don't work on iMac 2009~2011.
The shop had to remove the EFI chip and reprogram it.
