I'm sorry for doubting you all. As long as there is a reason to restart (low memory) the phone will respring. Again, I was wrong and I am sorry. Thanks for the awesome tip though! So much easier than killing the last few apps before I go to bed.

Omg that's the ticket! Just started a bunch of apps, and asked it to restart, and instant restart! Siri is too smart, it knows it doesn't need to restart when it doesn't need to. :D

That's why I doubted you. I didn't have any background processes running so it just said "what next" or something like that. This command is going to be one of my favorites.

works here... thanks.

hopefully we'll see a few other system commands in the future (bluetooth on/off etc.)

This does not have anything to do with "not restarting because it knows it doesn't have to" lol.

You just need to be at the springboard for this to work. It will work right after shutting the iPhone completely off and then back on--with no apps loaded at all.

Also, it is not doing a full reboot--it is doing a respring. But very cool indeed and a quick way to free up memory.

I was at the springboard and it wouldn't do anything. I opened safari, hit the home button, did it again, and it worked. Same result every time.

"Opened safari, hit the home button..." Exactly... you were at the springboard.

Why it didn't work the first time I don't know. But just loading Safari did not put the 4S into any kind of low memory situation.

I did 3 complete restarts in a row and restarted every time right after.

I also perform the restart command from the first springboard page. I have had a time or two where it did not seem to work from any page except for the first.

I wonder if there's a connection between this and the "Edit my contact" results.
Well I can't imagine it is intentionally left in. I mean we have never been able to restart the springboard on-demand, without jb'ing, with any version of iOS to date.

But since Siri seems to clue in to this word. Whether it is then leading to a crash IDK, but she does seem to understand that word.

What also leads me to believe Apple did not intend this to be a feature is that Siri does not ask for confirmation. Granted there are a few other commands that don't requite confirmation but I would think restarting would not be among them.

Looks like it did a respring for me, but didn't kill any background apps. Just reset my usage from last full charge
