I still much prefer the look of the 3GS

Look AND feel. A 3GS form factor with a matte, bezel-free case (like those leaked 3GS prototypes) and a retina display would've been amazing.

pixels pixels everywhere....

I understand more pixels for font smoothing and some games but there are only so many pixels that can reliably stuffed into a screen and still be produced at high enough volumes for sensible pricing.

We need new screen tech not more pixels

There is a current fixation with pixel count on both screens & cameras. HD content is only around 2Mpix. RED.com cameras being used regularly are 2700x5120 or around 14Mpix. But if the content if cr@p you may as well watch it on a 14inch B&W CRT

I asked on here a few months ago and the vast majority here said they did not think the iPad3 would have a higher resolution screen.

We also have the utter disappointment (for many) that the iPhone4s was/is after all the MASSIVE forum hype/rumour/build up, with pretty much everyone, even the journalists expecting someone with a new design and a larger screen.

One of the most jaw dropping "Is that it then?" moments I've ever witnessed from any recent Apple launch.

Whilst I'd love all the iPad3 rumours to be true, there is a danger it could be another iPhone4s let down.

I guess will all find out in the next 3 to 4 months, but I expect the hype and speculation is going to go crazy on here as we get closer and closer.

The 4s was a huge disappointment. I'd been waiting for a 5 to upgrade from my 3GS, and just ended up going for the 4

At this point in time, an iPad having a 2048x1536 screen doesn't make much sense on multiple levels. The speed of everything from the iPad's processors to the speed of everyone's internet connection would need to double or triple for it to be worthwhile.

1080p capable screen maybe, but 1440p? Who even has any 1440p content available? You can't even buy a 1440p television right now.

Without a bezel how exactly would you hold it in one hand and not register an input?

I have the same doubt although I like the bezel free design. We have to put glove in one hand
