You clearly have no idea what this thread is all about. It has nothing to do with me buying a rMBP or having bought a cMBP.

You're creating something out of nothing.

My man you've been in like every thread belly aching about the whole retina topic, about how it's not a necessity, how it's not much better then the reg pro screen, about how you can't really see a difference, etc!
Like seriously...every single thread.

This isn't me creating anything, you've created this yourself!

Now once and for all, in all honesty...I kind of get that you don't hate anything, or loath the rMBP. It looks like your just someone who likes to tinker with they're machine, upgrading ram, space, etc...And that's fine because the retina takes all that away. It also looks like you have interest in what the next retina unit will bring in the form of upgrades. All that is fine, I genuinely think you got really misunderstood in all this and maybe turned a mole hill into a mountain with some of your replies. Either way, it's all irrelevant at this point...Rock with what you like and call it a day.

Every single thread? Seriously?

I've never once "ached" about the rMBP, in any thread(s).

Proof?

Or was that just one (of your many) false claims.

Your showing your age (must be very young) In even the simple form of someone just saying...Hey man it is what it is, who cares...Just enjoy what you got and lets all get along...You still come in with an unbelievably childish post. Buddy you just don't get it, and probably never will at this point. In any event...Who cares, a belly acher will always be a belly acher! Ta Ta man...

AND YES...You've jumped into numerous threads belly aching about the whole topic...lol, who cares. Enough time wasted.

You care enough to come onto my thread, take the time to track and view my posts, and then respond. Interesting.

And you make claims without any proof. I've never gone into any thread stating false claims against the rMBP. And because you can't show that I have, you're just going to continue saying the same thing over and over again, probably hoping it will stick.

And if you didn't read the main post, if you're easily offended or hurt by someone saying the Retina isn't that noticeable, you shouldn't post/reply.

 Give it up, it`s not that interesting, and you are certainly not going to change opinion, don't like don't buy it, no need to harp on about it. No one really cares, especially when it get this sad stare of affairs...

I'm not trying to change any opinions. I was simply voicing my opinion.

Some people felt threatened by that and felt that need to try to define, interpret, or attack my opinion.

I tried to warn people that are easily offended or emotionally hurt, but apparently that didn't work so well.

I came over to MacRumors for a laugh..and this thread did the trick! Use a Retina machine for a week straight....then go back to your current display...then start a new thread

^^^Yeah, I think it's been suggested by a few posters that you really can't make a judgement like this from visiting a Best Buy and eyeballing the screens, as per the original post. I won't go so far as saying OP is in a state of denial as others have said but you definitely cannot dismiss the quality of a Retina screen based on a trip to Best Buy.

Anyway maybe it's time to lock this thread, the back and forth is getting kind of ridiculous.

There's a nice discussion going on here :)

Suggested by many...Including me who basically defended the OP in the beginning of this thread.

However it's kind of fallen on deaf ears because the OP want's to only hear what he want's to hear, anything else is pretty much looked as like rubbish to the OP. Ehhhh,,, Whatever! I agree, time to lock because your just going to get people coming in saying they like the retina and enjoy it, and then the OP saying NOOOO, you don't need it, it's not perfected, the Classic screen is just as good, just sit far back and you'll see what I'm talking about...hahahaha

Oh, right -- because I've said that so many times.

Honestly, I'm not sure where you're pulling this stuff out of.

Onto more entertainment...

My man you were going so hard about how you felt the screen should have provided more of a WOWWWWWW Factor, and you didn't see such a BIG difference in the retina vs the classic screen, and you felt it wasn't worth the money for a 1st gen product, etc, etc!

Have you finally seen the light, and are you prepared to say YES the Retina screen is definitely a step up from the classic screen, and I can tell the difference right away?...lol

Ladies and Gentleman, we have before us a changed man!

Congratulations brother...I assume we'll have you joining our Retina brotherhood when the Haswell machines are released?

I was saying "basically" to the bold portion.

irrespective if you own a Retina or don't, these facts don't change; a Retina is highly likely to outperform it`s similarly specified standard counterpart as it`s thermal management is just so much better, where the standard system will bog down and choke due to throttling the Retina does not from my own experience my own Retina will run indefinitely at full load, at maximum CPU/GPU frequency.

Have you tried installing SSD in cMBP, and removing SuperDrive as well? SuperDrive takes a lot of space,
the simple removal of it has improved my average temperatures for about 5 degrees, if not better.

According to iFixit teardown, the rMBP uses Hynix H5TC2G83CFR chips which are rated 11-11-11 at 1600MHz (see specs: http://www.skhynix.com/inc/pdfDownl...pdf/dram/Computing_H5TC2G4(8)3CFR(Rev0.2).pdf )

Thank you for the link, friend. Sorry I was mistaken.
Sadly, I thought that rMBP has CL9, but it is worse - CL11.
And the most disturbing thing is that you cannot change it!

Can you show us those benchmarks? I would be interested in seeing them.

There are plenty of them here: Geekbench
You just need to search for "fair" benchmarks: cMBP with SSD and RAM upgrade.
I have analyzed them before; hence my conclusion that, if desired,
cMBP configuration could be improved to a point where it is better than rMBP.

I remember being pretty unimpressed when comparing the rMBP to the cMBP and the Air as well. I left the store thinking that the Air was actually the coolest product.

After further online research, I did by the rMBP -- being able to run a non-native resolution like 1920x1200 without big scaling problems was something I wanted. I still use that resolution and like it a lot.

Interesting observation, makes sense. No my standard 15" MBP has both original HD & SuperDrive as both have their uses. I am thinking about a second Retina, although this may be sidelined as i have a new contract and one of the requirements is all work is conducted in the Windows environment, specifically specifying no Mac`s which is unusual, so a high end PC is now looking more likely right now.

Wouldn't Windows on Bootcamp be 100% Windows?

I started using the rMBP, and there was hardly any difference at all between it and the non-Retina MBP.

Am I missing something? I definitely could not see nor justify buying a rMBP instead of a MBP just because of the Retina.

You probable have poor eye sight or just don't pick up on the details that retina brings. In this case stick with a low resolution screen buddy.

Solved now NO MORE ARGUMENTS!

Apparently you just jumped in and posted and didn't read a single other post in this thread.

Thank you for reply. I believe the contract is not an issue, since you could run Windows in a virtual machine.
According to the benchmarks, there would be 5% decrease in CPU performance and 35% in GPU performance,
but it is not much (if this contract does not require heavy GPU usage) and you would probably prefer the convenience
of running Mac OS X and Windows at the same time ;)

I had to remove Superdrive because the disk could not be ejected without a teardown (should not insert Mini-CD )
The day before, I received a DVD burner with USB enclosure from China, bought for $30 with free shipping
(ordered it for Lightscribe function - as you probably know, Superdrive does not have this awesome feature)
Because I received this new drive, I decided not to return Superdrive back,
and the temperatures improved because now there is more free space inside :)
