Which model of retina MacBook 15" do you have?

I have a mid-2012. I did have the IR ghosting issue with my screen, but Apple fixed that at no cost and havent had any problems since.

I use mine for some steam games like counterstrike and garrys mod, parallels to load up windows and use solidworks (or sometimes windows only steam games, like DW8), and the general stuff - itunes, iphoto, ibooks, and safari.

I love the power of the 15" rMBP, but my gaming has since gone down. And I hate having a powerful mac just for the windows usage. I will probably be getting the 12" MBA, or the next 13" rMBP as my next computer.

Late 2013. I've got the one with 512 GB SSD, 16 GB RAM, and 750m dGPU. Best computer I've ever had. Maybe not the most powerful, but it is the most reliable and efficient of all. Pure pleasure working on it. I love the design too.

LOL LOOKING THIS EXACT COMPUTER

What do you think is more important ram or hardrive

Hi, just curious. How did you get discounts?

It was $1999.99 - $100 BB sale - $190 10% mover's coupon... = $1709.99.

I give preference SSD space over RAM. 8 GB RAM are enough for everything I do; however I might feel constrained over the size with 256 GB. I wanted at least 512 GB. I would have gone with 1 TB but it was too much money. The dGPU was a must for me.

I have own both an early 2013 and an early 2014 rMBP 15s, LG screens. Not an issue with either one and they are still being used heavily (cooling fans often near full blast)...... well the only issue was a poor connection in the power brick's magnasafe connector which made it heat up to the point the insulation became discolored. Apple replaced at no charge.

I have just founded a early 2013 MacBook pro retina 15 16gb, and 512gb hardrive flash, 2.6ghz i7, and
Adobe CS (Photoshop, Illustator, InDesign, AfterEffects
Logic Pro X
Microsoft Office home and business
Final Cut Pro
For 1700

Mid-2012 15" - Apple Certified Refurb. The $600 savings allowed me to get the 512gb SSD and 16gb RAM for the same price as the (then) new base model.

Only problem I ever had was the image retention, which Apple fixed as the MBP was only 6 months old (purchased June 2013). I still bought Applecare -- just in case. (B&H Photo sells it for $100 off).

Uses: General stuff, plus Logic Pro, Pixelmator & Photoshop.
Love this machine!

Mid-2012 2.7GHz i7 (see sig). Had it almost two years (come Feb.). No problems, except it did develop image retention sometime before a year was out. Rarely see it, and it will go away by itself, so I don't even think about it as a problem. I guess I was in the group who "if you don't have it yet, you will), since it didn't show any evidence of retention for most of first year.

I could have it replaced, but there's always a chance of getting one with bad pixels or uneven lighting - this one's perfect in all ways besides the occasional retention.

Most use is web, email, and iTunes, but I do have bursts of image and video editing from time to time (Aperture and FCPX). Also, some audio work, and Windows apps using Parallels.

Well, retention is something that would give you new replacement display straight away. If you can live with that it's fine, but I had enough after 1 day with my 2012 retina and that got replaced.

Early 2013 seems to be the least common retina MacBook Pro.

My guess is that in 2013, most were buying the slightly slower 2012 model at a discount, and picking up 2012 refurbs. Everyone seemed to then wait for the proper 2013 update, the late 2013.

Haha. I have an early 2013. My thinking was the opposite. I bought the last model before the upgrade, hoping any early problems had been worked out. I have a base model and got the Samsung screen. It has been flawless. I have to admit though, I use my 13" MacBook Air more frequently!

Hello all, I'm just wondering which Macbook pro retina you got, mid 2012 and if you had any issues with it. And what do you use it for.

Thanks

Mid 2012 here, fully loaded BTO/CTO model.
Use: fluid dynamics work / all personal work.

Best Mac laptop I've had to date.
Excellent performance and reliability.

do you think your computer has enough ram, or do you think it was a mistake and should've got the 16Gb

Mid 2014, 2.8 GHz i7, 16 gig RAM, 1 TB SSD, dual graphics.

Decided to buy as a replacement for 2007 iMac and am very happy with it so far. Mind you I should be, cost me an arm and a leg after all.

My first Mac laptop and I doubt it will be the last.

no problems with my mid-2014 except that it collects dust :(

As in, 'you don't use it', or...?

Quite curious as to why you're thinking about moving down.

I've tried all screen sizes: MacBook 13" --> unibody MacBook Pro 15" --> MacBook Air 12".

I'm now thinking about moving towards the rMBP 15" (2015). Did think about the (r?)MBA 12" (2015) but the whole 'downsizing' thing (from two USB ports, one Thunderbolt port and an audio jack to just one USB port) seems kinda sad. :/

The machine I have is the late 2013 Retina Macbook Pro 15.4", 2.3 GHz Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD

So far I've had a dead pixel, and two days ago my left fan started sounding like an old movie projector. I really don't want to go back to the apple store because last time one of the apple geniuses did something with my computer to where I wasn't able to boot into my windows partition when I got it back from repair. I've ordered a screwdriver to see if I can clean the inside of any dust. Hopefully it's just because of the dust.

I use my computer for video editing, drawing, photo editing, work, browsing the internet, listening to music, watching movies/TV shows, and playing the sims 4.

I have a late 2013 15" retina with dual graphics and the only issue i had was the application memory problem. I took it to apple and they typed in some commands in terminal and it was all bueno. I use my mac for school purposes, games, and photo editing.

I think we have the exact same mac, do you have 2 graphics card, if so can you do a geek bench to see what speeds you get because my mac has been running slow
