i can already see all those people that kept stating they wanted Retina on their laptops for the past few months, start whining about the price now !!!

ranks are gained in macrumors when a new product is due !!! :p

I'm foaming at the mouth with excitement!

...at least I think it's excitement, might be rabies...

Uhh...no USB 3? What year is it again?

Don't want to jump to conclusions, but I really hope these include faster I/O.

Haha, oh wow. On the other hand, a Leica M9 camera will cost you $7000.

I guess it's about that market segment again.

Yes, $4,000 is a bit much, right now ... but the good thing for us non-rich folks is that with Apple now pushing SSD's so hard, the prices should fall even more quickly in the coming year or two.

So, maybe next year, I'll pick up that 1TB ssd for a few hundred bucks!

4K for a maxed out 16GB with 768GB SSD sounds about right. Relax folks.

Yeah, these are spec levels that haven't been offered before so of course they'll have a premium.

I'm sure we can still get our $2300 rig and go to newegg for memory and an ssd. :D

Those SSDs are running up the cost.

Really the mid range one will be sufficient for most. At that point, just offload stuff to a portable.

These are BTO options kids.

True. I'd guess that the 8GB/256GB model will be $1,999 like the current 15" Pro.

I'm just curious how much Apple will want for the 11.6" MacBook Air with 8GB RAM. If they manage to make it $1649 I'll be happy, but I'm guessing $1799 or $1849. The 13" with 512GB SSD will likely crack $2K

only if the "thin and new retina macbooks" are user-upgradeable

These news and your post made my day.

That's a joke...right? I can't stop laughing. This is insane.
I don't know if I have to continue laughing or start crying.

I saved months for 2011 15 model, and I shure did expect from him to make me coffe.
For that price, I expect from the 2012 retina to drive me to the moon.
Well, at least for you guys, I have to pass it, but send me a picture card :)

And now to be serious, its a great specs and all if its true, but in mine country it will be 4k $ to 4k euros plus taxes = 5 000 euros. Have to take a bank loan. Shure hell I can even buy a nice decent used car for city.
Dont know who will even buy it.

USB 3 is a given, it comes with Ivy bridge.

These will be the machines Apple will be showing off during the keynote. The spec updates will either get a brief acknowledgement or just appear on the store afterwards.

I know i'll probably be in the minority, but I'm a little disappointed that the form factor is expected to be the same.

Wow that to expensive no way I am paying that for a laptop I already taught the 15in model was expensive for 1800. The ssd is really expensive.

Easy test, get a glass of water. If you can drink it, you have excitement. If your throat is so sore, you can't drink it, throw the glass at a wall, then go around biting people, it's rabies.

I haven't seen SSDs offered at 768 GB before. Biggest I've seen is 512.

As for 16 GB, you can already upgrade the RAM on current MBPs to 16 GB with memory from macsales.com. Only $161.99
