It happened again.

I'm getting the same issue – it seems to be narrowed down to the internal GPU when using Safari. For some reason Chrome works fine, and I didn't experience this when using Lion, so perhaps this might be fixed in 10.8.2?

Anyone else with the same problem?

I get a little bit of screen tearing every now and then on CS:GO in Steam on OSX 10.8.1 .However CS:Source hasn't done it, and bootcamp Win7 CS:GO doesn't have screen tearing. So it may be an issue with Mountain Lion, but I am not sure.

It worries me that it isn't isolated to Safari – AFAIK Windows only uses discrete graphics which backs up my theory that it is related to the internal GPU... Hopefully it isn't a hardware issue

Same here get it horizontal middle ish!

The only problem I have is when my computer has gone to sleep it won't wake from sleep some of the time. It doesn't happen often. From what I have read here and as well on the internet its a known issue which should hopefully be resolved through a software update soon.

Why doesn't everyone have this issue?

I have had this happen only a few times.

I'm only getting this tearing in Safari. As others have said, Chrome works fine. Tearing in games is normal without vsync, it isn't related to this problem unless you are seeing some other form of tearing (like down the middle vertically). I noticed it before updating to ML (got mine with Lion pre-installed) and I think it's worse in ML (could be in my head though).

If the tearing occurs on a webpage, highlighting the text will 'reveal' the actual text BUT if the page scrolls and I scroll down the screen and scroll back up, the tear remains. It's as if the corruption is stored torn in the cache (wherever that it... ram or vram).

My guess is that it's related to graphic switching. I think Chrome will use the nvidia GPU a lot where Safari mostly stays integrated. I notice it happening when something engages graphic switching. Like if I open Google Earth and switch to Safari I can re-produce it right away. I doubt it is bad hardware and more likely a video driver issue. It mostly happens on text boxes. I notice it on webpages sometimes but it could be confused for scrolling lag. I have a feeling all are effected and most people don't realize it.

toss it in the dump

well recycle it so the damage doesn't go into the blood stream of poor chinese childrens first

get rid of it
who needs a macbook retina display?

it is just an over priced toy, i sent mine back and with that money i got a great used car and then donated that car to the kidney foundation so someone out there can have a new kidney and run out and buy their new :apple: retina toy of their choices.

Which problem are you referring to?

If it's the fan coming on, it's most likely in the Energy Savings preferences, unchecking "Enable power nap while plugged into a power adapter" "Wake for WiFi network access", so it doesn't sleep walk while sleeping.

I've had screen tearing/glitches with my first rMBP, returned that due to bleeding, not tearing.. and haven't had that problem on my second rMBP.
