So you selected the second item in the bootcamp box (Download the latest windows support software. . .. . ) and it contained the 64 bit driver? On the cd it created for me the Nvidea 64 bit folder only contains ethernet and audio drivers but the 32 bit folder contains display drivers.

I used the option to create an USB stick and download drivers.

After windows installed I ran just the setup.exe in the USB WindowsSupport folder.
It installed all the drivers from just that one setup.exe.

Uh...bootcamp drivers were released on Saturday (via the bootcamp assistant) and my system has been running fine. It gets warm in windows but nowhere near as hot as my 2011 MacBook Pro. If I keep the vents clear and the underside elevated a bit it even gets cool at times. I use Windows 7 x64 primarily on the macbook (never been an OSX fan, just a hardware fan). Of course I also run in 1920x1200 for typical use unless I need the higher res for school stuff so maybe thats having an impact on how hard/hot the GPU runs too. I want to say some of these issues might be the typical issue of the OEM doing a crapshoot job applying thermal paste to the parts so they don't cool as well as they should.

I seem to have got the drivers installed. Looking good now.

Here is some off-screen sky rim gameplay, I have managed a consistent 35-40FPS on ultra at 1080p. Very impressive!

1. didn't know it's compatible as startup disk.
2. blue ray can run over a USB? wow i didn't know.

Yup, works just fine. Basically the same as using a thumbdrive as a boot drive, but instead just an external optical drive.

I borrowed a friends to install windows on a new build a couple weeks ago. That way I didn't have to plunk down $20 just for a drive I'll use literally once. I realize some people might use it more than that. But $80 for Apple's superdrive is just highway robbery.

Tried MS Flight again today, runs pretty nice on the Retina at Med + some High settings.

Max CPU temp was a staggering 103C according to RealTemp.

Battery drained pretty quick too. Guess that is expecting gaming at 2880x1800 :)

MS Flight is a free download if anyone else wants to give it go.

Any of you guys running Win8? I had no problem installing it and the Bootcamp drivers but I can't open the Bootcamp control panel. When I try I get an error about not having privileges to modify the boot drive. Everything is stock permissions, etc. I never had this issue with my previous MBP and the developer preview of Win8.

All I want to do is change the behaviour of the trackpad (tap to click instead of physically clicking).

Thanks.

Im guessing all the new drivers have been updated by now? im gonna install windows 7 today. should i be worried about temperatures or viruses while using windows on my mac? would deliting windows clean all that up ?
