Although I haven't run down the first charge on my rMini yet, so far it's seems quite good. I have nearly 24h standby and 4 hours of use at this time and my battery is at 80%. Seems on par with my Air which is impressive. How's everyone else doing with battery life on their Retina Mini?

Mine took about 4 hours to charge, from 8% to 100%.

Very good these figures, considering apple only quote up to 10 hours, usually you get less than what the manufacturer quotes.

Nice, people let it drain down almost all the way every now and then. This will ensure your battery maintains a better charge throughout its life.

Mini and Air are identical. 10+ hours.

My iPad 2 only got around 7 hrs with the same usage. Impressive.

    False.

In fact, doing so will degrade the life of any Lithium-Ion battery. LI, unlike NiCad does not have a charge memory so doing that is completely pointless.

The "time since last full charge" in general settings is not at all accurate....

This is true. For good battery health try not to let the battery drain lower than 30-40%.

Apple says once a month to drain to 0 then fully charge. Now they don't say to do this to fully maximize your battery efficiency over time as I thought, although I'm not entirely convinced this doesn't help even if Lithium batteries. Apple says to do it to ensure iOS is reporting battery life correctly and accurately. Hit Apple's website, that info is easily found there.

Yes, that is for reporting purposes as stated by multiple articles I linked above.

It doesn't really matter who is convinced, there's a ton of misinformation about battery charging -- people can choose to look at the scientific explanation based on battery chemistry or ignore it. Either way for most people (here) that turn over their devices every year or two it won't matter.

Do some homework on battery health for these types of devices. You would get some longer use out of your batteries.

i use it the same way other 99% users use. just charge up, use til whenever or 0%, repeat. is not that complicated. it's probably time to upgrade the ipad if the battery goes bad (if it does). relax, n enjoy it

    ----------

last thing i care about is my battery health. by(if) the time the battery goes bad, it's probably time to upgrade the ipad anyway.

I really don't get how people are coming up with these crazy battery numbers.

I'm on my 4th air and all of them get at max, 10.5 hours usage from 100 to 0%.

Are you running at max brightness? And what's your typical usage like? Web browsing, gaming, video streaming, etc...?

I got 15hr on my Air and I'm at 9hr now with 41% left on my rMini. I usually have brightness at around 25% with the majority of my usage being web browsing.
