I noticed it in anything white, it stands out more with the keyboard because the keys break up the background I think. But it was really noticeable for me in things like Flipboard, Gmail, any website with white background and black writing. Anything with colour and I couldn't see it.

So it was certainly "in your face" and you didn't have to go looking for it? Perhaps mine isn't too bad then.

For me yeah but I think people do have different tolerance for it(if thats the right word), it was one of those "Once you see it you can't unsee it" sort of things for me. If it doesn't bother you I don't see a problem.

Update. In previous post I mentioned going in for an exchange a few days ago and the exchange I got was a MUCH WORSE yellow Rmini than my original, and was told to come back in a few days when next shipment comes in. Local apple store received in another shipment today so I went in for exchange. We went through 2 new Rminis. The third was the best out of all 3 and the associate and I were both scared to continue to open more for fear that it would be worse than than the previous 2, so I opted to hold onto the 3rd. It's slightly better than what I had before.

He suggested I come back in a month or two if I am still not happy with it and exchange when "newer" shipments come in that may not have the same issue.

The seem pretty aware of it and agreed on spotting the differences in the displays. I'm going to spend some time living with this one for awhile to see if I can just adjust since it's not nearly as worse as the others I went through.

I have the same problem with iPad mini Retina - yellowish 1/3 of the screen near the home button. A quick test is looking at a greyscale found here: http://www.epi-centre.com/charts/grey5pc1024x768.gif. Now, compare the white on one end with the other. Initially, I thought it was the image. However, after rotating iPad mini, the yellow is always near the bottom by the home button. I'm returning it before 14 days is up. Good luck all!

I have to say that my iPad 3 had this issue (a kind of yellow shading on the left). When they first came out it was worse but did get a bit better the first week or so so I kept it. I really thought I would get used to it but I never did. Every time I was on this site, in a Notes app (that has a lot of white), any site with a lot of white, I saw it. I even changed both iBooks and my kindle app to a black background to get away from it.

I gave that one to my grandson who doesn't care because he's never on a really white page. I never updated it to iOS 7. I can imagine just how much it would have bothered me with all the white in iOS 7.

My recommendation - if it bothers you now don't count on 'getting used to it'. You might not and with the new OS it will be worse than on iOS 6.

That being said, my new iPad Air has a great screen, completely even color, no shadows, very nice. I'm going to enjoy it a lot more than I did that iPad 3.
